20+ Sides for Pork Chops

Pork chops are a staple in my kitchen because they’re not only super tasty but also super easy to prepare – not to mention cheap!

And since they have such mild flavors, they’re easy to pair with a variety of sides.

Need some inspiration? Check out these 23 easy sides for pork chops.

Make one or make a few. Either way, you won’t be disappointed.

Homemade Cracker Barrel Fried Apples

1. Cracker Barrel Fried Apples

Let’s start with something sweet and crunchy, shall we?

Pork and apples go oh so well together. And while homemade applesauce is usually a popular choice, I much prefer the texture of fried apples.

This super sweet side dish is just what you need with savory pork chops.

2. Apple Cranberry Pecan Salad

If you want the perfect side dish for pork, look no further than this light and refreshing fall salad.

Between the crisp apples, chewy cranberries, and buttery pecans, it’s got so much going on.

It’s creamy with a hint of tang and zippy with a touch of sweetness.

Make it once, and you’ll crave it all the time.

Homemade Chicken Fried Rice with Carrots and Green Onions

3. Benihana Fried Rice

If you’re a fan of Asian cuisine, you’ll know rice works with any pork dish, and pork chops are no exception.

Don’t just settle for some steamed white rice, though.

Elevate that simple dish by frying it in a wok and adding your favorite veggies to it!

You can add whatever you like, but I prefer some carrots, green onions, and sweet peas in mine.

Honey Glazed Baby Carrots with Herbs

4. Cracker Barrel Glazed Carrots

There’s nothing like the classic combination of sweet and savory. If you agree, then you’ll love those savory pork chops with some sweet glazed carrots.

Not only do the flavors complement each other, but the crunchiness of the carrots also contrasts the tenderness of the meat.

Talk about the perfect side dish for pork! These babies are buttery and vibrant. Even the kids will want seconds.

Homemade Texas Dinner Rolls

5. Texas Roadhouse Dinner Rolls

Pork chops are all protein, so you might want to pair them with some carbs to help satisfy that hunger.

And if you’re not a fan of rice, then how about some fluffy dinner rolls?

These buttery baked goods are super-rich, so they enhance the rather mild flavors of the pork chop perfectly.

And they’ll soak up the juices like a dream!

Sweet Homemade Yellow Cornbread

6. Cornbread

Here’s another delicious side dish that pairs well with pork.

Southern style cornbread is rich, tender, and super flavorful. And like the rolls above, it’s terrific at sopping up any meat juices.

Whether you make it sweet or savory, I know you’ll love this family fave.

Sweet Corn Pudding in a White Ramekin

7. Corn Pudding

If you want to give your pork chops a real Southern twist, how about some corn pudding?

The custard is sweet and creamy, both of which are missing from pork chops. Together they make a well-balanced duo.

And whether you make it in the slow cooker or the Instant Pot, it couldn’t be easier to recreate.

Creamy Scalloped Potatoes

8. Scalloped Potatoes

Potatoes are always a fantastic way to round out any meal. And these scalloped potatoes are some of the best.

They’re rich, creamy, and filling, which is everything a pork chop needs for a bit more excitement.

Between the cream and onions, they’re super addictive. But if you want them even more so, turn them into potatoes au gratin and add some cheddar cheese!

Baked Sweet Potato Fries with Dip

9. Sweet Potato Fries

Pork chops are savory and tender, while sweet potato fries are sweet and crispy – which is why they make an amazing pair.

Apart from the beautiful contrast in flavors and textures, sweet potato fries are also relatively healthy, so there’s no need to worry about excess calories.

And unlike regular French fries, you don’t need to deep fry sweet potatoes to make great-tasting fries.

Just drizzle some slices with oil, garnish with salt and pepper, and bake!

Homemade Mashed Potatoes with Herbs

10. Ina Garten’s Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Pork chops can sometimes be a bit on the dry side. So why not balance things out with something rich and creamy?

Mashed potatoes are smooth, flavorful, and (best of all!) cheap!

Just add some butter and salt and your creamy mashed potatoes are good to go.

Or take them up a notch and make Colcannon (Irish mashed potatoes).

Creamy Mac and Cheese Served in Fork

11. Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese

I think mac & cheese is the perfect side dish. It pairs well with everything from ribs and burgers to chicken wings and tofu.

So, I had to include this super simple slow cooker recipe.

The pasta dish adds a rich and creamy component to your pork chop feast, creating a harmony of flavors and texture.

To make it your own, try swapping out the cheeses, or use a tasty blend.

For example, I like a mix of mature cheddar cheese, Gruyere, and white cheddar.

12. Steakhouse Creamed Spinach

Creamed spinach is something I always order with my steak. But it’s just as rich and tasty with pork!

In fact, I think it’s one of my favorite pork chop sides.

Ready in just twenty minutes, you’ll love the mix of leafy greens with garlic, onion, and Parmesan cheese.

Homemade Butternut Squash Casserole with Bacon

13. Apple Butternut Squash Casserole

We’ve already established that apples go well with pork chops. And so do bacon and butternut squash

So, why not combine them into one mega side dish?

It’s crisp and lightly sweet with wonderful salty flavors from the bacon.

Swap out the honey for maple syrup if you want a more unique finish.

14. Roasted Sweet Potato Salad with Brussels Sprouts and Kale

If you’re on the hunt for a powerhouse side dish to serve with pork chops, you just found it.

This sweet potato salad is chock-full of nutrients, color, and texture.

The veggies are roasted (go ahead and make bacon Brussels sprouts if you like!) and the kale is crisp and fresh.

(Use any dark leafy greens if you don’t like kale.)

15. Roasted Fingerling Potatoes

Whether you’re serving pork chops, roast chicken, or a thick, juicy steak, there’s not more delicious side dish than these roasted fingerling potatoes.

They don’t need peeling, so just toss them in a mix of oil, garlic, and spices, then scatter them on a baking tray.

How easy is that?

16. Classic Wedge Salad

The first time I had a wedge salad, I was surprised at how tasty it was.

But then, if you smother anything in blue cheese dressing and top it with tomatoes and crispy bacon and onion, you’re in for a treat.

Crunchy and Creamy Green Bean Casserole

17. Campbell’s Green Bean Casserole

Like iceberg lettuce, green beans aren’t the most exciting.

And yet, with a bit of mushroom soup and a healthy sprinkle of crispy onions, they’re suddenly addictive!

Make this green bean casserole as a side dish for pork and your family might just forget about the meat.

Creamy Potato Salad with Herbs

18. Ina Garten’s Potato Salad

Making your pork chops on the grill? Then you need this creamy potato salad on the side.

Have you ever been to a BBQ and not seen potato salad on the table? No, I didn’t think so.

It’s rich, creamy, and wonderfully hearty. It’s also a super simple side dish that pretty much everyone loves.

Fluffy and Buttery 7-Up Biscuits

19. 7-Up Biscuits

If you want something hearty, light, and tasty as a side to your pork, why not make a batch of these 7 Up biscuits?

Believe it or not, you only need four ingredients, and they’re ready for the table in under 30 minutes!

20. Miso Braised Cabbage

How stunning does that cabbage look!

The char is so inviting and when you get a whiff of the miso, I know you’ll start drooling.

So forget your usual wilted cabbage and try this miso braised cabbage instead. I promise you’ll never go back!

21. Potato Rolls

Did you know you can make insanely light and tasty dinner rolls with leftover mashed potatoes?

It’s true!

These fluffy potato rolls are restaurant quality and 100% from scratch. So they’ll take a little longer to make, but they’re so worth it!

22. Easy Homemade Applesauce Recipe

I’ve already given you a few apple recipes. But I know there are purists out there who just want a dollop of homemade applesauce on their chops.

So, here’s a terrific recipe for just that!

It’s chunky, sweet, and lightly spiced. Though you can change the ingredients to suit your tastes.

23. Pumpkin Risotto

I don’t know why, but I always think of pork chops as a fall dinner.

So, that means it needs a tasty fall-inspired side dish. And it doesn’t get more fall-inspired than pumpkin!

This risotta is super flavorful, vibrant, and filling. Serve it with juicy pork chops for a well rounded meal.

  1. That was the best examples of sides that I have seen in a long time. Just made the salad with apples, cranberries, pomegranate, and nuts and a lemon vinaigrette. Oh my! Beyond good!
