Homemade BBQ Baked Beans

1. BBQ Baked Beans

BBQ baked beans are simple and easy to make, yet packed with so much flavor. And they’re a classic cookout food.

Sweet, savory, and smoky baked beans are just as good as a burger side as they are with ribs and chicken.

Dill Pickle Pasta Salad

2. Dill Pickle Pasta Salad

Pasta salad is light, tangy, and refreshing. So it pairs perfectly with a juicy burger.

Plus, it’s super easy to make and feeds a crowd!

This recipe is a little different than the usual mayo-heavy pasta salad you’re used to.

There’s still mayo in the mix, but there’s also red wine vinegar, mustard, and chopped pickles for a fun, tangy finish.

Baked Sweet Potato Fries with Dip

4. Sweet Potato Fries

If you took a poll and asked a hundred people what to serve with burgers, I bet 99 would say french fries.

It’s a classic combo that never fails.

But if you want a brighter, healthier option, try these sweet and crispy sweet potato fries instead.

For extra flavor, season these bad boys with garlic powder and rosemary. Yum!

Savory Zesty Sauce with Onion Rings on a Plate

5. Onion Rings

Here’s another wonderful alternative to the usual french fries.

Because when it comes to burger sides, you can never go wrong with air-fried onion rings.

They’re sweet, savory, soft, and crisp. For a real treat, whip up a side of Burger King Zesy sauce for dipping!

Creamy Coleslaw in a White Bowl

6. Creamy Coleslaw

This is one of those creamy and refreshing hamburger sides you’ll see at every cookout during the summer.

Slaw is rich, crunchy, and super easy to modify with extras or a different dressing.

But as far as coleslaw recipes go, it’s pretty perfect as is!

Platter of Roasted Brussels Sprouts

7. Roasted Brussel Sprouts

These roasted Brussel Sprouts will make you rethink the French fries.

With crispy, caramelized edges and soft insides, they’re pretty addictive.

The best part? All you need is a drizzle of olive oil, salt, and pepper to bring out their nutty flavor.

Zucchini Chips

8. Zucchini Chips

Give your burger a crispy and healthy companion with these fun, baked zucchini chips.

Don’t worry, they’re easy to make. Just slice up some zucchini, drizzle them with olive oil, and coat them with bread crumbs, oregano, and parmesan.

Make them into discs or cut them into fries, then pop them in air fryer. Just don’t forget the tasty dipping sauce!

Three Bean Salad

9. Three Bean Salad

This terrific summer salad features green beans, kidney beans beans, garbanzo beans, and red onion.

It’s chock-full of goodness, color, and texture. And it’s super filling, to boot.

Dress it with a homemade apple cider vinegrette, and watch it quickly disappear!

Pea Salad

10. Pea Salad

Pea salad has a little bit of everything, and I couldn’t be happier!

This recipe pairs peas with tasty additions like red onion, smokey bacon, and cheese.

Then, dial up the creaminess factor with mayo and sour cream. It’s a must-try recipe that goes so great with burgers!

French fries

11. Popeye’s French Fries

Why make regular old French fries when you can make Popeye’s famous fries at home?

They’re seasoned to perfection with a blend of savory spices, then baked in the oven until golden.

Beware: these fries are downright addictive.

Creamy Potato Salad with Herbs

12. Classic Potato Salad Recipe

Classic potato salad is among the burger sides I always reach for.

I love the contrast of warm meat juices with the creamy sauce. Throw in some peppery red onion for a bit of crunch, and you’re all set.

Fried Dill Pickles

13. Fried Pickles

Crunchy, juicy fried pickles dipped in ranch? Yes, please!

These are often served as an appetizer, but they also pair perfectly alongside burgers.

Plus, you get that same great “dipping” action that you do with fries.

Rosemary Roasted Potatoes i

14. Rosemary Roasted Potatoes

Need to use up from fresh herbs from your garden? These rosemary roasted potatoes are a great option!

Crunchy on the outside with mashed potato-like insides, they’re the potato side you need in your life.

With just 8 minutes of prep (and an hour in the oven), you can whip up this tasty side in no time.

Creamy Mac and Cheese Served in Fork

15. Mac and Cheese

I know it’s messier than french fries, but mac and cheese goes with everything.

So, when you’re considering good sides for burgers, it’s a must-make!

I mean, who doesn’t love tender pasta in a rich, cheesy, and creamy sauce? I know it’s not a healthy side, but it’s universally loved.

Roasted Asparagus

16. Oven-Roasted Asparagus

Need a tasty yet nutritious side dish? Look no further than roasted asparagus!

The seasoning is simple: olive oil, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese.

Roast it in the oven, drizzle with lemon juice, and dig in. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Boiled Corn on the Cob with Butter and Salt

17. Corn on the Cob

Grilled corn on the cob is the ultimate summer side!

Boil them until tender, then grill them for a few minutes to give them a wonderful char and smoky flavor.

Nothing beats a big chunk of grilled corn slathered in butter. So be sure to make extra!

Loaded baked potato salad

18. Loaded Baked Potato Salad

This loaded baked potato salad captures everything you loved about baked potatoes.

It’s rich and creamy thanks to a mayo and sour cream dressing, and has a hint of smokiness from crisp bacon.

Broccoli Salad with Grapes, Onions and Bacon

20. Paula Deen’s Broccoli Salad

Here’s a great way to get the family to eat their greens! Paula Deen s Broccoli Salad is sweet, savory, smoky, and 100 percent delicious.

It pairs earthy broccoli with crisp bacon, sweet raisens, red onion, cherry tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.

Is your mouth watering yet?

Corn Pudding

21. Creamed Corn Pudding

I know there are a lot of corn recipes on this list of hamburger sides, but that’s only because the two are so summery.

But rather than serving sloppy creamed corn on paper plates, try this creamed corn pudding instead.

It’s just as rich and soft, but it holds its shape a little better, thanks to the eggs and cornstarch. Oh, and there’s even a bit of crunch around the edges!

Amish Macaroni Salad

22. Amish Macaroni Salad

Macaroni salad is as synonymous with grilling as potato salad or grilled corn.

It’s a great make-ahead dish, and I’ve never seen leftovers in all my years of throwing backyard parties.

You can even make it extra filling with shredded chicken and bacon in the mix.

Crispy Smashed Potato Salad

23. Crispy Smashed Potato Salad

I jumped on the smashed potatoes train early. They’re literally everything I love in a side dish and more.

Add them to a potato salad, and I’m in potato heaven. It’s crispy, creamy, and loaded with fresh herbs and dill pickles.

So forget steak fries! This salad is at the top of my list of hamburger sides every single time.

Grilled Mexican Street Corn

24. Mexican Street Corn

If you’ve never tried Mexican street corn, prepare to be dazzled!

It’s a stunning mix of crispy sweet corn, creamy cheese, and lots of fresh herbs and spices. Plus, there’s lime juice in the mix for a pop of citrus!

With just 5 minutes to prepare and 15 minutes to cook, you can have it on the table in no time.

Air fried cauliflower florets

25. Air Fryer Cauliflower

You’ve never had cauliflower like this before! Crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, it’s a super heathly yet satisfying side dish.

They’re seasoned with bold spices like garlic (yes, please!), paprika, and red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.

Garnish with fresh parsley from the garden, and serve them up with your juicy burgers!

Cooking time

Make this grilling season one to remember with these easy and delicious sides for burgers. Check out my personal favorite: Dill Pickle Pasta Salad.

  • 3 cups uncooked rotini pasta

  • 2/3 cup mayonaise

  • 1/3 cup finely chopped dill pickles (or more to taste)

  • 1 tablespoon mustard

  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon white sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1/8 teaspoon celery salt

  • 1 pinch garlic powder (or more to taste)

  • Start by bringing a large pot of water to boil. Once it’s roiling, salt the water, add the rotini pasta, and cook until al dente (approximately 8 minutes).
  • While the noodles are cooking, whisk all of the other ingredients together in a medium bowl, leaving some pickles set aside. This will make your dressing. If you are using fresh herbs or pickle juice, you can add them now as well.
  • When the noodles are ready, rinse them in cold water and add them to a large bowl. Allow the noodles to cool completely.
  • (NOTE: This is where you’ll want to add any vegetables, meat, or cheese from the variations.)
  • Cover the noodles in the dressing and mix, mix, mix!
  • Chill at least one hour and then serve. Top with more pickles.
