How to Make Grinch Kabobs

Holiday planning doesn’t always have to be elaborate. And these easy Grinch kabobs are proof!

They’re no-bake and no-stress, so you can even make them last minute.

1. PREP the ingredients. Wash the fruit, slice the banana into even rounds, and hull and remove the tips of the strawberries.

2. ASSEMBLE the kabobs by skewering the ingredients in this order: a green grape, a banana slice, a strawberry with the narrow end pointing upward, and a mini marshmallow. Repeat the process for all 24 kabobs.

3. ARRANGE the Grinch kabobs on a serving platter. Serve and enjoy.

Tips For the Best Grinch Kabobs

I love Christmas cookies, festive fudge, and holiday cakes.

But sometimes, you need a break from all the sugar-loaded baked goods.

Enter these Grinch kabobs! They’re a healthier twist on a sweet treat. And to make them as festive as can be, follow these tips:

  • Prevent browning. Brush the banana slices with lemon, lime, or orange juice.
  • Slice evenly. Slice the banana rounds into approximately 1/4 inch thickness for ideal proportions with other ingredients.
  • Swap the banana. Instead of bananas, use large marshmallows sliced thinly as the base of the hat for a sweeter flavor. This is ideal for making them ahead.
  • Make an assembly line. Set up the ingredients in order of assembly (grape, banana, strawberry, mini marshmallow) for faster preparation.
  • Blunt the skewers. Slightly blunt the sharp ends of wooden skewers to make them more kid-friendly.
  • Chill until serving. Keep assembled kabobs in the refrigerator until 10-15 minutes before serving.
  • Display technique. Stick completed kabobs into a styrofoam block covered with festive paper for an upright presentation.
  • Fun variations. Use green melon balls instead of grapes, add candy eyes to the grapes, or use green frosting dots as eyes on the “face.”

How to Store

Are you prepping these Christmas skewers in advance? Follow these tips to keep them fresh:

To Store: Place the kabobs in an airtight container or wrap them tightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours.

As mentioned, it’s best to use marshmallows instead of bananas if you make them ahead. In that case, you can make them up to 24 hours in advance.
