I mean, how can you say no to this incredible mash-up of flavors? If you’re on a diet, you’d better stay away.

No matter your level of discipline, Sloppy Joe pizza is impossible to resist.

This marvelous hybrid is not only lip-smackingly delicious, it’s also a snap to make. 

Because it’s a combo of two different dishes, you’d think it will call for at least 20 ingredients. But nope, all you’ll need are five.

Plus, it cooks so fast, you can have dinner ready in just 30 minutes! How awesome is that?

Ingredients

When it comes to pizza, you can add whatever toppings you like. But here’s what you’ll need to achieve the ridiculously yummy Sloppy Joe/pizza mash-up.

  • Ground Beef – Seasoned with salt and pepper for flavor. If you’re using fatty ground beef, such as an 80/20, you’ll need to drain the grease. But if you opt for a low-fat cut, such as a 93/7 or 95/5, you won’t have to. It’s your choice.
  • Worcestershire Sauce – It’s all you’ll need to give the ground beef maximum umami flavor.
  • Condensed Tomato Soup – Together with ground beef, it makes a wonderful shortcut version of the classic Sloppy Joe.
  • Pizza Crust – To make life easier and dinner quicker, use pre-made or store-bought pizza. But if you have time, you can make your own dough, too!
  • Mozzarella Cheese – For that trademark stringy, ooey-gooey consistency every pizza should have.

Tips for the Best Pizza

If using store-bought pizza crust, pre-bake it prior to adding the toppings to prevent it from being soggy. Give it 8 minutes in a 400 degrees Fahrenheit oven to ensure a crisp crust.

For individual pizza servings, use slices of French bread for the crust instead. Bake the pizza at a lower temperature  – 350 degrees Fahrenheit – and only for 10 minutes.

Add whatever toppings you want! Pepperoni, onions, jalapenos, a different kind of meat – go crazy!

Speaking of toppings, why not sneak in some veggies into your pizza for a healthier dish? How about some bell peppers or shredded squash, zucchini, or carrots?

If adding bell peppers, use red instead of green. Green bell peppers are a little more bitter than red.

Aside from the tomato soup, you can also use a combo of ketchup and BBQ sauce to flavor the ground beef. 

Want a sweeter Sloppy Joe? Add some brown sugar! Want it hotter? Add cumin or chili powder.

Want it earthier? Add spices such as thyme, parsley, oregano, or basil.

Saute the beef with chopped onions and minced garlic for more flavor.

Do not cook down the sauce too much. This might dry out your Sloppy Joe meat, which obviously isn’t ideal.

Stop cooking until the sauce has the same consistency as a regular pizza sauce – not too thin, not too thick. Perfect for spreading!

Want a healthier Sloppy Joe topping? Use ground turkey instead of beef. The flavor will be different, but still tasty.

Want a nice sear on the ground beef? Brown it on high heat! It will form a crust around the edges, giving the beef a hamburger-like texture.

Apart from mozzarella, you can also top the pizza with cheddar for maximum cheesiness.

How to Reheat Sloppy Joe Pizza

I love cold pizza, but if you like yours hot, here’s how to reheat Sloppy Joe pizza.

Wrap the pizza in foil and pop it in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Reheat for 5 minutes or until warmed through.

Want to speed things up? If you don’t mind a soggy crust, microwave leftover pizza for 1 to 2 minutes.

If you want to crisp it back up, place it on a cookie sheet and let it sit for 5 minutes post reheating.

Leftover pizza keeps well for up to 4 days in the fridge.

What Can I Do With the Leftover Sloppy Joe Topping?

Got some of that gorgeous Sloppy Joe topping left? Easy – make actual Sloppy Joes out of them!

Aside from regular buns, use a crescent roll instead, then pop them in the oven. What a lovely savory dish it makes!

You can also use the leftovers to top rice or spaghetti for a super hearty, starchy meal. Or add it to mac and cheese for a meatier treat.

Is Taco Tuesday feeling a little boring? Add a southern twist to your favorite Mexican meal by stuffing burritos, quesadillas, or tacos with Sloppy Joe meat.

Tip: if the Sloppy Joe topping has dried out the next day, just thin it out with a bit of liquid, such as tomato sauce or water.

You can season it with salt, pepper, and sugar if it gets bland.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pounds ground beef

  • Salt and pepper, for seasoning the beef

  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 (10 3/4-oz) can Campbell’s Condensed Tomato Soup

  • 1 (12-inch) pre-made or store-bought pizza crust

  • 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese (about 4 ounces)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Meanwhile, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. In a 10-inch skillet, brown the beef on medium-high to high heat. Stir constantly to separate the meat. Remove the excess fat with a spoon or ladle.
  • Add in the condensed tomato soup and Worcestershire sauce. Stir the ingredients together until the soup is heated through.
  • Spread the beef mixture over the crust, leaving a 1/4-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle the beef with mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake for 12 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Cut into 8 slices. Enjoy!
