You may already be familiar with tres leches cake. It’s rich, creamy, and insanely scrumptious.

But it’s not even the best of the bunch!

In fact, there are so many amazing Mexican cake recipes out there, you may struggle to pick just one.

So, from chocolate cakes and cheesecakes to cake rolls and more, I hope you’re ready to hit the kitchen because these Mexican cakes are too good to miss.

Mexican Cakes From Tres Leches to Pastel De Elote

1. Tres Leches Cake

First, let’s start with the one that everyone knows.

Tres leches – “three milk” – cake is supremely moist, sweet, and light. The icing is soft and fluffy, and the cake is delightfully milky.

Biting into this is like biting into a cloud. Add a dash of cinnamon to the top for an extra bit of warm decadence.

Berries work well as toppings, too. Either way, this cake is sure to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.

2. Chocoflan Impossible Cake

This intricately layered cake looks too good to be true.

You’ve probably heard of flan before, right? This dessert stacks a layer of wiggly flan on top of an indulgent chocolate cake layer.

Then, you’ll top the flan with sticky, flavorful caramel sauce.

This triple-layer cake is as rich as they come. But don’t let that stop you from trying it because it’s delicious

3. Mexican Churro Cake

Do you love sweet and cinnamony churros? Of course you do! Who doesn’t?!

This recipe takes all the best things about churros and turns them into a tender, tasty cake.

It’s sweet, soft, warm, and full of cinnamon flavor.

The cinnamon-sugar topping even adds a bit of traditional churro texture. Overall, though, the cake is melt-in-your-mouth fluffy.

Plus, it looks terrific! It’s simple, elegant, and perfectly scrumptious.

Serve it at your next family gathering, and people will love it.

4. Mexican Chocolate Cake

This soft, moist cake combines several flavor profiles into one delicious dessert.

Every bite is full of chocolate, coffee, and cayenne pepper. Yes, you read that right!

Cayenne pepper gives this sweet treat a slightly spicy kick.

Don’t worry, though. The creamy, rich frosting helps tone the heat down to manageable levels.

5. Mexican Chocolate Cake with Cinnamon Frosting

Here’s another sweet and spicy Mexican chocolate cake. Unlike the one above, this one has cinnamon frosting.

The basic recipe for making the cake is the same, so use whichever you prefer.

My advice? Try them both and see which one you like best. After all, two cakes are better than one!

6. Pastel De Elote (Sweet Corn Cake)

Your eyes aren’t deceiving you; there is corn in this cake.

But it’s not cornbread. Instead, it’s 100% pure cake – sweet, buttery, and delectable.

You’ll whip it up with standard baking ingredients and whole kernel corn. Once it’s ready, you can eat it as is.

Or you can top it with caramel, whipped cream, and berries. Either way, you’re sure to love it.

7. Sopapilla Cheesecake

This spongy, sweet, and tangy cake is unbelievably simple to make. You’ll need just seven ingredients, and the hands-on work is minimal.

Everything about the cake is soft except the slightly crisp topping. There’s also plenty of cinnamon and sugar in every bite.

It perfectly combines cheesecake and sopapillas. And the result is extraordinary!

8. Mexican Lime Maria IceBox Cake

Looking for something a bit brighter and zestier? Try this lime icebox cake instead!

You’ll make it with just five ingredients, and there’s no cooking involved. So it’s ideal for the summer.

There’s just a lot of stirring, spreading, arranging, and chilling. But if you love the tart-n-tangy flavor of lime, this is the cake for you.

9. Mexican Jelly Roll

Spongy, sticky jelly rolls are always a hit, no matter the occasion.

This Mexican cake roll is no exception, and it even has a little more oomph.

Its fruity, slightly tropical flavor pairs beautifully with the light, spongy texture. Plus, it takes just 5 minutes of prep time and another 40 to cook.

If you want an easy dessert that’ll still WOW the crowd, give this one a try.

10. Peach Cake Roll

This lovely peach cake roll requires even less time to make! From start to finish, it takes just 35 minutes.

It’s light, cool, and very peachy.

Just be careful not to overdo it with this one. It has such a light, won’t-weigh-you-down flavor that it’s easy to overeat.

11. Spicy Mexican Brownie Cake

You’ve probably guessed by now that Mexican chefs like their chocolate spicy!

It’s not how we traditionally do it here in the U.S, but one bite, and you’ll be hooked.

This cake is moist, fudgy, and full of spicy, chocolatey yumminess. Top it with cinnamon and vanilla frosting for an extra indulgent treat.

12. Coconut Tres Leches Cake

This dessert takes the traditional recipe for tres leches cake and livens it up a little.

How does it do that exactly? By adding lots of tropical coconut flavor.

Typically, tres leches uses condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk. This version calls for unsweetened coconut milk and adds coconut rum to boot.

You can even add shredded coconut for more nutty goodness. There’s plenty of coconut flavor without it, though.

13. Mexican Hot Chocolate Cake

This gorgeous cake takes a little extra work. However, the result is totally worth it.

It’s ridiculously lovely and perfect for formal events or special occasions.

It’s also totally decadent and full of spicy chocolate flavor. In addition, it’s wonderfully rich and features cayenne, cinnamon, and vanilla notes.

If you want to ensure your dessert takes center stage, this is the one to make.

14. Mexican Wedding Cake

Don’t just make this sweet-n-tangy cake for weddings. Instead, use it anytime you need something simple, elegant, and full of flavor.

You can make this traditional Mexican cake with just six ingredients. Then, you’ll cover it with a sweet vanilla cream cheese frosting.

Plus, it’s light and incredibly moist, thanks to the crushed pineapples. Yum!

15. Mexican Chocolate Sheet Cake

I know what you’re thinking. But can you really have too many recipes for delectable chocolate cake?

I don’t think so.

That’s why I’m okay adding another spiced chocolate cake recipe to this list.

It takes a bit of time to pull this one together. But as far as chocolate cakes go, it’s pretty hard to beat.

16. Chile Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Bourbon Frosting

The bourbon frosting on this cake is ah-mazing! Every bite is rich, earthy, woodsy, and nutty.

It’s a fantastic combination. This fudgy cake is beyond decadent, and everyone will love it.

Don’t be surprised if you have leftovers, though. Not because the cake isn’t any good; it is! It’s just super rich.

In other words, a little piece will satisfy you. So don’t expect too many people to come back for seconds.

17. Mexican Chocolate Cake with Caramel Cream Frosting

Mmmmm… Chocolate and caramel.

It may be the only combination better than chocolate and peanut butter. Add a little cinnamon to the mix, and you’ve got an unbeatable trio.

This chocolate cake is pure chocolatey bliss.

There’s no cayenne pepper to add that extra kick of heat. You will use 3/4 cups of coffee, though. That gives it a nice, robust flavor.

The dulce de leche frosting compliments the cake perfectly. I also like to add a dash of sea salt to the top of mine. Delish!

18. Mexican Chocolate Mousse Pie

Just look at this beautiful pie! Isn’t it stunning?!

Look at its rich, deep chocolate crust. Check out its silky brown filling. Everything about this creamy pie is strikingly gorgeous.

And even though it seems impossible, it tastes even better than it looks. It’s not too hard to make either!

Just be sure you whip it up a day or so ahead of time. That gives the flavors and the ingredients time to settle.

19. Colorful Mexican Pinata Cake

It doesn’t matter if you’re from Mexico or France. Piñatas are just plain fun.

And piñata cakes are just as exciting. This is one of my favorites because it’s so fantastically colorful and festive!

When you cut it open, a plethora of goodies come spilling out! It’s the ideal cake for a child’s birthday party.

But don’t be surprised if adults love it, too.

20. Chocolate Tres Leches Cake

Two of the most popular Mexican cakes are tres leches and chocolate. This tasty dessert combines both into one.

You’ll start with an already moist chocolate sponge cake. Then, you’ll add the three milks and indulgent chocolate icing.

It’s super rich and extra scrumptious. You won’t be able to stop yourself from coming back for more.
