How to Make Maple Bacon Crack

Making this addictive bacon couldn’t be easier!

  1. Prep the bacon. Cook the chopped bacon until it’s safe to eat but not yet crispy, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate and set aside.
  2. Prepare the dough. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the crescent roll dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray. Pinch the seams to make a single sheet and prick all over with a fork.
  3. Add the toppings. Brush half of the maple syrup evenly over the dough. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of the brown sugar on top, covering the entire surface. Distribute the cooked bacon pieces evenly over the brown sugar. Drizzle with the remaining maple syrup.
  4. Bake and serve. Bake for 22-25 minutes until golden brown and bubbling. Allow to cool completely before cutting into small pieces and serving.

Tips For the Best Maple Bacon Crack

This recipe is pretty foolproof, but these tips make it even better!

  • Get a step ahead. Pre-bake the crescent roll dough by itself for 5-10 minutes before adding toppings. Be sure to prick the dough with a fork so it doesn’t balloon up.
  • Chop it up. After baking, cut the maple bacon Crack into small pieces no larger than 2″ x 1″ in size since it’s very rich.
  • Give it a rest. Allow it to cool completely before slicing into pieces and serving for the best results.
  • Avoid a mess. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray for easy removal and cleanup. Foil can cause sticking issues for some.
  • Swap the base. Try graham crackers or saltine crackers for the crescent roll base.

How to Store

If you have leftover bacon, here’s how to keep it fresh:

To Store: Place it in an air-tight container or bag and store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. It’s best enjoyed within a day or two for the best texture and flavor.

To Freeze: Tightly wrap the completely cooled bacon in plastic wrap, then place in a freezer-safe bag or container. Store in the freezer for up to 2-3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating and serving.

To Reheat: Remove from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature. Warm individual pieces in the microwave for 5-10 seconds. Or, place them in a preheated 375°F oven for 1-2 minutes until heated through.
