Why You’ll Love This Edible Brownie Batter

Safe to Eat: Made with heat-treated flour and no eggs, it’s a worry-free indulgence.

Rich & Fudgy: It’s packed with deep chocolate flavor, just like licking the bowl of your favorite brownie mix.

Quick and Easy: Comes together in minutes with simple pantry ingredients.

Customizable: Add chocolate chips, sprinkles, or even a drizzle of caramel for extra fun.

Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour: For structure and body. Don’t worry; once you heat-treat it, it’s safe as houses.
  • Unsalted Butter: Essential for creating a rich, creamy base. It blends smoothly with the sugars, giving the batter a tender texture.
  • Granulated & Brown Sugar: Granulated sugar adds sweetness and structure. Brown sugar contributes moisture and a caramel-like flavor.
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: The primary source of chocolatey goodness. It imparts a deep, intense chocolate flavor to the batter.
  • Salt & Vanilla Extract: Enhance all other flavors and ensure balance.
  • Milk: To adjust the consistency of the batter, making it supremely smooth and creamy.
  • Chocolate Chips: For an extra burst of chocolate flavor and texture.

How to Make Edible Brownie Batter

Made with heat-treated flour and no eggs, you can dive right into this yummy no-bake dessert.

Keep it in the fridge for whenever chocolate calls your name, or serve it at your next gathering for a unique treat that’ll have everyone asking for the recipe.

Here’s how to make it:

1. MICROWAVE the flour in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until it reaches 165°F. Set aside to cool completely.

2. WHISK the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl until smooth and well combined.

3. MIX the cocoa and salt with the cooled flour. Gently stir the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until partially combined.

4. ADD the chocolate chips and slowly mix in the milk, a little at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.

5. SERVE the edible cookie dough with a selection of dippers. Enjoy!

Tips for the Best Edible Brownie Batter

I’m that person who always sneaks a spoonful (or three) of brownie batter before it hits the oven.

So, naturally, this edible brownie batter is my dream come true.

It’s rich, chocolatey, and perfectly safe to eat. And with these tips, it’s perfect every time!

  • Choose quality cocoa. It’s the main source of flavor, so splurge on something good. For the best results, use Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
  • Melt and cool the butter. If it’s too hot, the dip will be oily.
  • Quick cooling. Spread the heat treated flour on parchment in a thin layer. It’ll cool in no time.
  • Adjust the consistency with milk. Add the milk slowly and only a teaspoon at a time. I like it quite thick but you can make it as soft as you like.
  • Experiment with mix-ins. Add optional ingredients like peanut butter chips, caramel swirls, or marshmallows. Nutella, finely crushed nuts, and sprinkles are also good ideas.
  • Use vegan alternatives. For a plant-based version, swap the butter and milk with your favorite vegan substitutes. Be sure the chocolate is also dairy-free.
  • Enjoy creatively. Scoop the batter into bowls, roll it into bite-sized balls, or spread it on cookies. You can also use it as a dip for fruit or pretzels or layer it in parfaits with whipped cream.

How to Store

Edible brownie batter is just as easy to store as regular homemade brownies. (Even easier in some cases!)

You’ll just need an airtight container and proper freezing equipment.

To Store: Place the brownie batter in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Let sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before serving.

To Freeze: Form the batter into a large disc or several smaller portions. Wrap them tightly in plastic wrap, place in a freezer bag, and freeze for up to 2 months. When ready to enjoy, thaw in the fridge for a few hours.
