Chocolate Raspberry Martini

Last Updated on March 24, 2025

This Chocolate Raspberry Martini is one of those vodka cocktails that looks impressive but couldn’t be easier to make. Just a few simple ingredients, a chilled glass, and you’re all set!

I like to drizzle chocolate sauce inside the glass for a little extra flair. It’s such an easy touch, but it makes the drink feel extra special.

Sometimes I’ll even dip the rim in melted chocolate for a little added decadence. And if I’m feeling fancy (which is most of the time when I make this), I’ll toss a few fresh raspberries on top for a pop of color.

This creamy martini is rich, smooth, and tastes just like a raspberry chocolate truffle. It's basically my dream dessert in a glass!

Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, hosting a girls’ night, or just treating yourself after a long day, this martini always hits the spot. Bonus points if you snap a photo before sipping — it’s definitely Instagram-worthy!

Key Ingredients

  • Vodka: The base of the cocktail should be smooth and neutral so the chocolate and raspberry flavors shine. So, good-quality vodka makes all the difference. I’m obsessed with Tito’s but Kettle One is a great choice too.
  • Chocolate Liqueur: This is what makes the drink rich, velvety, and downright indulgent. It turns a simple vodka martini into a full-on dessert cocktail. I typically use Mozart Chocolate Cream or Godiva chocolate liqueur, but any brand you like will work.
  • Raspberry Liqueur: Adds a bright, tart, fruity kick that keeps the cocktail from being overly sweet. Chambord is the best choice for its bold raspberry flavor.
  • Half & Half: Gives the drink that creamy, silky texture that makes it feel extra luxurious. It also helps mellow out the alcohol a bit.
  • Chocolate Sauce: Drizzle it inside the glass for a gorgeous swirl or rim the edges for an extra chocolatey touch. Look for Torani Puremade Dark Chocolate Sauce if you can find it – it's my favorite!
  • Fresh Raspberries: The perfect finishing touch. They make the cocktail look elegant and add a little burst of fresh fruit flavor in every sip.

How to Make The Best Raspberry Chocolate Martini

A great Chocolate Raspberry Martini is all about balance. I’m talking luxurious chocolate, zippy raspberry, and clean vodka, all shaken into a silky, decadent drink.

The right ingredients make a difference, of course, but so does the technique. I always start with a well-chilled martini glass, and it’s vital to shake vigorously until the shaker is ice cold.

1. Rim the Glasses. Pour some chocolate syrup onto a small plate and dip the rims of your glasses. Go for a light coating or really swirl it on— it’s up to you!

2. Shake, Shake, Shake. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add the vodka, chocolate liqueur, raspberry liqueur, and half & half. Shake like you mean it for a good 30 seconds until it’s ice-cold and frothy.

3. Strain & Serve. Strain the cocktail into the chilled cocktail glass, top with fresh raspberries, and enjoy every smooth, chocolatey sip!

Garnishing Ideas

The right garnish can take your Chocolate Raspberry Martini from simple to stunning! So while you could stick with a simple swirl of chocolate sauce or plain chocolate rim, I have a few other ideas to make your dessert drink sing.

  • Crushed Raspberries: Roll the chocolate-dipped rim in freeze-dried raspberries for a pop of color and tangy flavor.
  • Fresh Raspberries: Float a few on top or add a small skewer of raspberries.
  • Chocolate Shavings: Grate a regular chocolate bar and sprinkle it over the top for a luxe, dessert-like feel.
  • Cocoa Dusting: A light dusting of cocoa powder adds a rich, velvety look and tiramisu-style taste.
  • Whipped Cream: A small dollop on top turns this cocktail into a true indulgence.
  • Raspberry Sauce Drizzle: For extra berry flavor, drizzle a little raspberry sauce on top before serving.
  • Mint Sprig: A fresh sprig of mint adds a burst of color and a refreshing aroma.
  • Sugar Rim: For a simple but sweet touch, rim the glass with sugar for extra sparkle.

Get creative and have fun with it — the more decadent, the better!

Recipe Tips & Variations

This is one of those delicious cocktail recipes I just can't get enough of. It's ready in a flash but ideal for any special occasion.

But as tasty as it is, I love playing around with flavors and little finishing touches to make it extra special.

  • How to chill the glassware. Pop your martini glasses in the freezer for 5–10 minutes before serving. It keeps the cocktail colder for longer and makes every sip extra refreshing. I also like chilling the shaker and ingredients for an even frostier finish.
  • The ice matters. Use fresh, medium-to-large ice cubes for the best texture. I think crushed ice melts too fast, waters down the drink, and can make it foamy instead of silky.
  • Measure precisely. A splash too much of one ingredient can throw off the balance. I always use a jigger to keep the flavors just right.
  • Double strain for a smooth pour. Straining straight from the shaker works fine, but if you want a super clean, creamy texture with no rogue ice chips, use a fine mesh strainer too.
  • Experiment with flavored vodkas. Raspberry vodka adds more fruitiness, while chocolate or vanilla vodka brings a richer, dessert-like twist.
  • Play around with chocolate liqueurs. Mozart Chocolate Cream Liqueur is a bit sweeter with more of a milk chocolate flavor. Godiva Chocolate Liqueur is darker, but still delicious. It's up to you which you prefer.

Serving Suggestions

This delicious chocolate raspberry martini isn’t just a drink — it’s a whole vibe! It's my go-to when hosting friends but I also make it when I get a chocolate craving on a quiet night in. Either way, here are some fun ways to serve it:

  • Date Night Delight: Pair it with chocolate-covered strawberries or a rich chocolate mousse.
  • Girls' Night In: Serve in chilled glasses with a raspberry garnish for a classy touch. Add some fudgy chocolate brownies on the side.
  • Valentine’s Day Special: I think this tasty cocktail goes great with a big slice of chocolate cake.
  • After-Dinner Sip: Enjoy this cocktail as a cozy, indulgent way to end the evening. Serve it alongside some homemade raspberry chocolate truffles!

Recipe FAQs

How do you grate chocolate?

Use a simple box grater or a microplane if you want finer pieces. Keep grated chocolate in the fridge if making it ahead.

Can I make it ahead of time?

Surprisingly, yes! Simply mix the ingredients in a large pitcher (no ice) and chill until ready to use. Serve in frosted glasses for the best taste.

Can I make a non-alcoholic version of the Chocolate Raspberry Martini?

Absolutely! To create a delicious mocktail, substitute the vodka and liqueurs with non-alcoholic alternatives. Use a non-alcoholic chocolate syrup and raspberry syrup to capture the rich flavors. Combine these with cream or half & half, shake with ice, and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with a fresh raspberry skewer or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

What if I don't have half & half?

No worries! You can substitute half & half with heavy cream for a richer texture or whole milk for a lighter version. If you're looking to cut down on dairy, dairy-free creamers or plant-based milks like almond or oat milk work well too. Just keep in mind that different substitutes will slightly alter the creaminess of your martini.

Is there a way to add a coffee flavor to this martini?

Yes, adding a splash of coffee liqueur, like Kahlúa, can introduce a delightful coffee note to your Chocolate Raspberry Martini. This variation adds depth and complexity, making it reminiscent of a mocha-flavored treat. Adjust the amount to suit your taste preferences.
