  • Sesame Seed Hamburger Buns: Soft buns perfectly complement the saucy beef and toppings.
  • Iceberg Lettuce: It offers a cool, crisp contrast to the warm, saucy beef.
  • Dill Pickle Chips: Sliced pickles add an extra tang and crunch to the finished sandwich.

How to Make Big Mac Sloppy Joes

Making Big Mac Sloppy Joes couldn’t be easier!

  1. Brown the beef. Cook the ground beef, onions, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce in a skillet until browned. Drain the excess grease.
  2. Make the sauce. Mix the mayonnaise, French dressing, relish, ketchup, vinegar, onion powder, and salt to make the Big Mac sauce. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  3. Add the sauce & pickles. Stir the chopped pickles and Big Mac sauce into the browned beef. Heat through.
  4. Assemble the sandwiches. Spread the sauce on toasted buns, and top with lettuce, cheese, saucy beef, and pickles. Add an extra bun layer in the middle for a double-decker sandwich.
  5. Serve warm. Serve the Sloppy Joes immediately while hot with extra sauce on the side if desired. Enjoy!

Tips for the Best Big Mac Sloppy Joes

For the very best Sloppy Joes, follow these tips and tricks:

  • Get the buns toasty. Lightly toast the sesame seed buns for added texture. It’ll also prevent them from getting too soggy.
  • Pick your toppings. Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences. Use whole pickle slices instead of chopped pickles.
  • Try a healthy twist. For a healthier version, use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. You can also use reduced-fat mayo, or serve it in a lettuce wrap.
  • Make a sensational salad. If you’re eating low-carb, skip the bun. Serve the Sloppy Joe mixture over a bed of lettuce for a Big Mac salad.
  • Flavor up the sauce. Taste the sauce and adjust the ingredients to your liking. Add more ketchup for sweetness or vinegar for tanginess.

How to Store

If you have leftover Sloppy Joes, here’s how to keep the mixture fresh:

To Store: Keep the leftover mixture in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Store extra Big Mac sauce separately in the fridge.

To Freeze: Allow the mixture to cool completely, then transfer to a freezer-safe container or Ziploc bag. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.

To Reheat: Reheat the mixture in a skillet over medium heat, stirring until heated through. You can also reheat individual portions in the microwave.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef (85/15)

  • 1/2 yellow onion, finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup dill pickle, finely chopped

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 8 sesame seed hamburger buns

  • 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce

  • 12 dill pickle chips

  • 4 slices American cheese

  • For the Big Mac Sauce:
  • 1 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup French dressing

  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar

  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef halfway, about 3-4 minutes. Add the chopped onions, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Continue cooking until the beef is fully browned, about 5 more minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  • While the beef is browning, make the Big Mac sauce. In a bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, French dressing, sweet relish, ketchup, white vinegar, onion powder and salt until well combined. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Add the chopped pickles and 1 cup of the prepared Big Mac sauce to the browned ground beef. Stir well and cook for 1-2 more minutes to heat through.
  • To assemble the Sloppy Joes, lightly toast the hamburger buns. Spread some Big Mac sauce on the bottom buns. Top with shredded lettuce, a slice of American cheese, a scoop of the saucy ground beef mixture, and dill pickle chips.
  • To finish the sandwich, place the top bun on. For an authentic double-decker Big Mac style, add another bun layer in the middle with more sauce, lettuce, beef, and pickles.
  • Serve them immediately while warm, with extra Big Mac sauce on the side if desired. Enjoy!
