Why You’ll Love These Chocolate Chip Waffles

Fun Family Favorite: It doesn’t matter if you’re making them for someone who’s eight or eighty-eight! Waffles – especially chocolate chip ones – are always a hit.

Taste & Texture Sensation: The sweet, gooey chocolate pairs wonderfully with the crisp golden waffles. The flavor is amazing, but the crunch when you bite into one is even better. Don’t worry, though. The insides are still nice and fluffy.

Completely Customizable: Add nuts, fruit, or different types of chocolate chips. And, of course, you can go as wild as you want with the toppings.

Ingredients

  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips: They completely transform regular waffles into delightfully decadent breakfast treats. Use a high-quality brand for the best results.
  • All-Purpose Flour: The foundation for fluffy, golden waffles that are sturdy enough to hold all of your toppings.
  • Baking Powder & Baking Soda: Trust me on this one. Using both will give you the lightest, fluffiest waffles possible.
  • Granulated Sugar: For a little sweetness.
  • Salt & Vanilla: To enhance all the other flavors.
  • Buttermilk: We all know how delicious buttermilk pancakes are. But did you know that buttermilk is also a secret ingredient in waffles? It makes them ultra-tender and tasty.
  • Eggs: Add moisture and richness while holding the batter together.
  • Unsalted Butter: For that irresistible buttery flavor.

Tips for the Best Chocolate Chip Waffles

The aroma of these waffles cooking is enough to wake up the whole house and get everyone excited for a delicious morning treat.

Whether you’re enjoying them with a drizzle of syrup, a dollop of whipped cream, or just on their own, these chocolate chip waffles are sure to brighten your day.

Here are the best tips I have for these scrumptious chocolate chip waffles:

  • Use mini chocolate chips. While regular-sized chips will work, mini ones are better. They’ll distribute more evenly throughout the batter.
  • Fold gently. Stir the wet and dry gently by hand. A few lumps are okay.
  • Reserve a few chips. Don’t pour them all into the batter. Instead, keep a few out to sprinkle on top of the batter when you pour it into the waffle maker. They’ll give each waffle a prettier appearance and an extra boost of chocolatey goodness.
  • Keep them warm. If you’re making a large batch, preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the waffles on an oven-safe dish while you’re making the others.
  • Jazz them up a little. Swap the semi-sweet chocolate chips for milk or white chocolate, mix in nuts for crunch, or add fruits or berries for a fruity twist.
