Homemade Texas Roadhouse Rolls

1. Texas Roadhouse Rolls

How can you eat a steak without some buttery bread on the table?

Whether it’s soft dinner rolls soaked in butter or toasted-to-perfection garlic bread, you can’t go wrong.

You can also bake up a lovely loaf of Italian bread or serve a crunchy French baguette. Add some fragrant garlic butter to the table, and you’re all set!

Scalloped Potatoes

2. Scalloped Potatoes

Potatoes are the perfect side dish for virtually any main dish.

Our family favorite is all about scalloped potatoes. We just love these thin-sliced, super cheesy baked potatoes.

If you cook them in a slow cooker or Instant Pot, you can focus all of your attention on the star of the show – the beef!

Serve with a dollop of sour cream for extra decadence.

Homemade Sweet Potato Fries Dipped in a Mayonnaise

3. Sweet Potato Fries

Baked sweet potato fries are a healthy alternative to regular French fries. They’re low in fat and rich in vitamins, and they’re delicious!

With just a sprinkling of salt and pepper, sweet potatoes add a lot of flavor to your feast.

Make them even more gourmet by adding dried cumin and paprika for an extra punch of flavor.

French fries

4. Air Fryer French Fries

Freshly cut French fries couldn’t be easier with your handy air fryer.

Just slice, season, and pop them in the air fryer basket for perfectly crispy fries with tender insides.

Plus, they’re so much healthier when cooked in an air fryer!

1905 Salad

5. 1905 Salad

The 1905 salad isn’t your average salad.

With pieces of ham, Swiss cheese, grated Romano cheese, tomatoes, and Spanish olives, it’s the perfect sidekick for steak.

The homemade garlicky dress takes these flavors to a whole new level.

Baked Mac and Cheese

6. Mac and Cheese

Every great steakhouse has macaroni and cheese on the menu! The creamy sauce, soft pasta, and sharp cheese flavor are the perfect contrast to a meaty entree.

Add texture and flavor to your mac and cheese with crispy breadcrumbs or smoky bacon bits.

Use sharp or aged cheddar, or a combination of both, for maximum cheesiness.

Onion Rings

7. Onion Rings

Another steakhouse staple, onion rings are the tangier alternative to French fries.

You can whip up a batch in just 10 minutes with your handy dandy air fryer.

Don’t forget your favorite dipping sauces!

Roasted zucchini

8. Roasted Zucchini

Roasted veggies are the best way to get some extra flavor and nutrients, plus they’re ready in minutes. Just throw them on a baking sheet and bake!

My favorite roasted veggie is zucchini. This recipe is full of flavor with fresh herbs and spices, and a touch of Parmesan cheese.

The best part? It all comes together in just 30 minutes.

Air fryer brussels sprouts on a plate with cream dip.

9. Brussels Sprouts with Bacon

Brussels sprouts aren’t everyone’s favorite veggie, but this simple steak side dish might change the minds of even the pickiest eaters.

Arrange the Brussels sprouts on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and roast them in the oven until caramelized.

Combine with garlic, smoky bacon, and a sprinkle of salt, and you’ll have a perfect side dish that’s succulent and enticing.

Green Beans Almondine

10. Green Beans Almondine

Add a little more color to your meal with a simple side dish of green beans mixed with garlic, butter, and almonds.

Blanching the green beans retains their crunch, so no limp, soggy beans here!

This flavorful side dish brings a sense of gourmet elevation to your meal, while still being super simple and ready in minutes.

Caprese Salad

11. Caprese Salad

If you’re grilling up your steaks on a hot summer day, this cold salad will be a welcome refreshment.

This recipe pairs heirloom tomatoes, fresh basil, and Mozarella wheels all garnished with a sweet balsamic glaze.

It will add a touch of elegance to your grilled steak and cool off your guests in between bites of steaming meat.

Boiled Corn on the Cob with Butter and Salt

12. Corn on the Cob

Nobody can turn down freshly grilled corn on the cob! If you’re already firing up the grill for your steak, go ahead and stick some corn cobs on the side.

Don’t forget to slather them in butter!

You can even turn them into elote with chili powder, cotija cheese, lime juice, and mayo for a tasty Mexican twist. Yum!

Sweet Coleslaw

13. Sweet Coleslaw

There’s nothing better than a savory steak paired with this sweet coleslaw!

Using a bag of pre-shredded coleslaw mix makes your life so much easier. Just add tasty mix-ins like poppy seeds, onion, and a homemade sweet dressing and serve.

This slaw is easy to make and goes fantastically with any grilled red meat.

Loaded Potato Skins

14. Potato Skins

I can’t mention steak sides without talking about potato skins!

These fork-tender spuds are the ideal accompaniment for a juicy steak. They’re filling, inexpensive, and taste even better with red meat.

Spruce them up with any toppings you like. I’ll take mine with sour cream, fresh chives, bacon, and cheddar. Yum!

Homemade Mashed Potatoes

15. Mashed Potatoes

Make your weeknight dinner a winner with a side of mashed potatoes!

Juicy grilled steak plus creamy mashed potatoes are a match made in heaven. Their garlicky flavor is the best way to balance out the richness of steak.

As a starchy dish, this pairing makes for a hearty dinner. It’s perfect for when you’re in the mood to indulge.

Air Fryer Asparagus

16. Air Fryer Asparagus

For a light weeknight dinner, I highly recommend air fryer asparagus.

Asparagus is low in calories and a great low-carb alternative to potato side dishes. Together with steak, they create a well-balanced meal.

In the oven or air fryer, roasted asparagus fries will turn out nice and crunchy. Dressed with fresh herbs and Parmesan cheese, they’re hard to resist.

Baked Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms

17. Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms

Stuffed mushrooms are a tasty steak side dish you can whip up any time. They’re easier than you think!

They pair portobello mushroom caps with a cheesy spinach mixture that pairs well with meaty mushrooms.

It’s a fancy side dish that’s sure to impress on steak night!

Antipasto Salad

18. Antipasto Salad

Here’s another perfect side dish that absolutely goes well with steak.

Antipasto salad is bright and tangy with a classic red wine vinegar dressing.

It’s the perfect pair of cured meats with crunchy veggies and cheese. Just toss everything in a bowl, and serve! No cooking required.

Honey roasted carrots

19. Honey Roasted Carrots

If you love to pair savory entrees with sweet side dish recipes, this one’s for you.

Roasted in honey, these carrots get caramelized and coated with a sweet glaze that contrasts the richness of the steak perfectly.

The crunch from the carrots also offers a nice textural contrast to the tender steak.

Roasted Cauliflower in a plate.

20. Roasted Cauliflower

Looking to cut back on the carbs? This roasted cauliflower gives potato vibes, sans the starch.

Seasoned with plenty of garlic, Parmesan cheese, and paprika, it’s anything but boring.

The outsides earn a nice crispy crust while the insides are fork-tender.

Roasted broccoli florets with parmesan cheese

21. Parmesan Roasted Broccoli

Here’s another tasty veggie side dish worth of steak night!

Parseman roasted broccoli is so rich and flavorful thanks savory seasoning like fresh garlic, lemon, and olive oil.

As it bakes, the edges become nice and crispy and hold so much flavor.

Syracuse Salt Potatoes

22. Syracuse Salt Potatoes

Syracuse Salt Potatoes is a super simple dish that allows the potatoes to shine.

With only three ingredients (potatoes, salt and butter), you can whip this stunning dish dish up in just 30 minutes.

They’re golden and buttery, and even better with a sprinkle of fresh herbs like dill or chives on top.

Roasted Parmesan Potatoes with dipping sauce

23. Crispy Roasted Parmesan Potatoes

These golden roasted potatoes are crisp on the outside and super tender on the inside! I can’t think of a better texture combination.

Flavored with herbs and seasonings, these potatoes are wonderfully salty and earthy. It’s one of the most addictive steak side dish recipes here, no doubt.

Also, because they’re roasted in the oven, not deep-fried, these herby treats are healthier than French fries.

Spoonful of Creamy Corn Pudding scooped from a white dish.

24. Corn Pudding

For a sweet contrast to your savory steak, go for this classic Southern side dish.

It’s similar to a corn casserole but with a smoother and creamier consistency.

A combo of corn and eggs at its base, this pudding is tender and fluffy.

Baked in the oven, the pudding develops a crispy outer crust and a creamy inside. Phenomenal.

Homemade Baked Potato Wedges

25. Air Fryer Potato Wedges

Here’s yet another potato-based side dish to round out your steak dinner.

There’s no question that potato wedges are sensational. They’re just like crispy, salty fries, only thicker.

The significant difference is that they’re air-fried without oil, making them a much healthier alternative with the same flavor. Who can resist that?

Whipped Sweet Potatoes

26. Whipped Sweet Potatoes

If you like a vegetable side dish that’s on the sweet side, try this potato side dish.

This recipe infuses butter, nutmeg, cream, and vanilla extract into the spuds, giving the dish that cozy, warming vibe we all know and love.

All you need to do is cook the potatoes, and whip then into light and fluffy potato clouds. Easy peasy.

Crispy Smashed Potato Salad

27. Smashed Potato Salad

This relatively new take on roasted baby potatoes is a huge hit with my family. If you haven’t tried this vegetable side dish yet, why haven’t you?

Smashing the potatoes creates a wonderfully unique textural mouthfeel.

Throw in some herbs and mayo, and you have the best potato salad you’ve ever had!

Seasoned air fryer butternut squash in a white bowl.

28. Air Fryer Butternut Squash

This butternut squash recipe is sweet and savory, and goes great with steak.

Plus, it’s super easy to whip up in a flash. Just chop, season with spices, and let your air fryer do all the heavy lifting.

It takes 10 minutes of prep, and 15 minutes in the air fryer. How easy it that?

Arugula Salad

29. Arugula Salad with Shaved Parmesan

Cut through the richness of your main dish with a summer salad with arugula, tomatoes, pine nuts, parmesan, and a honey vinaigrette.

The tangy lemon and peppery arugula are balanced by the sweet and garlicky dressing, while the tomatoes and pine nuts add texture and flavor.

And let’s not forget about the salty parmesan shavings that tie it all together.

Crack Green Beans with Crispy Bacon

30. Crack Green Beans

Take your green beans to the next level with this crack green bean recipe!

With bacon, onion, garlic, butter, and a medley of spices, these green beans burst with flavor in every bite.

Even the green bean skeptics in your life will have a hard time resist this side dish!

Steak with Rosemary, Fries and Salt in a Plate

What Vegetables Go with Steak?

What’s the best vegetable to serve with steak? Pretty much anything!

Vegetables are incredibly versatile. You can make them as simple or extravagant as you like.

Some pair particularly well with a steak dinner, though.

Earthy vegetables, like mushrooms and potatoes, are excellent accompaniments for a savory meal.

Fresh vegetables, like leafy greens, also help break through the richness and the fat.

So, for the best pairing, try any of these veggies:

  • Potatoes
  • Roasted Brussel Sprouts
  • Mushrooms
  • Corn on the cob
  • Green salad
  • Spinach
  • Asparagus
  • Green beans
