Homemade Big Mac Sliders

This dish is a homemade twist on the iconic Big Mac, shrunk down into bite-sized sliders.

They feature a stack of Big Mac ingredients: sesame seed buns, juicy beef, lettuce, cheese, dill pickles, and the signature sauce.

They’re also easy to make. Instead of forming individual patties, you assemble all the sliders on a baking sheet and pop ’em in the oven.

They’re perfect for sharing and are sure to be a hit at any gathering!

Ingredients

Here’s what you need to make the perfect copycat Big Mac sliders.

  • Big Mac Sauce – The secret weapon that makes these sliders unforgettable. This sauce is a savory-tangy blend of mayonnaise, mustard, pickle relish, spices, and seasonings.
  • Ground Beef – Choose 80/20 for the perfect balance of flavor and juiciness.
  • Yellow Onion – Diced finely, it adds a subtle sweetness that complements the beef beautifully.
  • Salt and Pepper – Simple but essential, they elevate the beef’s natural flavors.
  • Slider Buns – Soft and pillowy, they’re the perfect vessel for all the tasty ingredients.
  • Burger Toppings – Use cheese, lettuce, and pickles. These classic Big Mac components add crunch, creaminess, and tang.
  • Sesame Seeds – Brush the buns with butter and sprinkle sesame seeds on top to finish them off.

Recipe Tips & Variations

Follow these tricks and twists for a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

  • Fresh is best! Fresh ingredients elevate these sliders to gourmet status. Opt for high-quality pickles, mayonnaise, beef, onions, and buns for the best flavor.
  • Get the buns toasty. A quick toast adds crunch and prevents the buns from becoming soggy from the sauce.
  • The meat will shrink! Less lean meat shrinks more, so adjust your portion sizes accordingly.
  • Choose your cheese. Swap American cheese for shredded cheddar if you prefer.
  • Swap the meat. Feel free to use ground turkey instead of beef for a lighter option.
  • Can’t find slider buns? Hawaiian rolls or any soft, small buns will do the trick.
  • Get creative with toppings! Add sliced onions, ketchup, or even bacon bits.
  • Try a healthy twist. Use leaner ground beef (90/10) or turkey burgers.

French Fries – The classic partner for any burger, their crispiness contrasts the slider’s juiciness.

Sweet Potato Fries – Their sweet flavor adds a delightful twist and a pop of color to your plate.

Tater Tots – Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, tater tots bring a fun and casual vibe to the meal.

Salad – A fresh salad cuts through the richness of the sliders, adding a refreshing crunch.

Mac and Cheese – This creamy, comforting side dish complements the sliders with its rich cheese flavor.

These copycat Big Mac sliders have all the flavor of the classic sandwich in bite-sized form! The combo of beef, lettuce, pickles, cheese, and special sauce is too good.

Ingredients

  • Big Mac Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish

  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar

  • pinch garlic powder

  • pinch onion powder

  • pinch paprika

  • Sliders:

  • 1 pound (80/20) ground beef

  • 1/4 cup diced yellow onion

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 12 slider buns

  • 4 slices American cheese, cut into squares

  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce

  • 1/2 cup dill pickle slices, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

  • Sesame seeds for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°Fahrenheit (190°Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine the mayonnaise, pickle relish, mustard, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika in a bowl for the Big Mac sauce. Set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until browned, breaking up the meat with a spoon. Drain any excess grease. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cut the slider buns in half. Place the bottoms on the baking sheet. Spread a generous dollop of Big Mac sauce on the bottom buns. Top with shredded lettuce, followed by the cooked beef mixture. Place a cheese square on each slider.
  • Add the chopped dill pickles on top of the cheese. Drizzle with remaining Big Mac sauce if desired.
  • Place the bun tops on the sliders. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
  • Bake the sliders for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the buns are lightly toasted. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Get creative with toppings! Add sliced onions, ketchup, or even bacon bits.

    • Hi, Dave!

Those are just regular slider buns (I usually get the King’s Hawaiian brand — their Hawaiian sweet rolls also work well) coated in melted butter and with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. 🙂
