1. Tangerines

Do you ever wonder why nature blesses us with citrus fruits in the winter? 

It’s because of vitamin C, and tangerines are a great source.

They’re commonly thought of as a mini oranges. But don’t let those adorable fruits fool you!

They’re actually part of the mandarin family. Sweet, juicy, and small, they’re the perfect size for a quick citrus snack. 

2. Blood Orange

Of all the oranges, blood oranges have the most magnificent color.

But did you know that’s what makes them so nutritious? 

Common in purple, blue, and red produce, their pigment is an antioxidant called anthocyanins.

It can help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Call me biased, but these are also one of my favorite citrus fruits! 

From cocktails to all sorts of yummy recipes, there are so many ways to use them. 

I love pairing them with goat cheese, beets, and avocado. And they make any salad burst with color!  

3. Mandarin Orange

We pack them in our kid’s lunches, we keep them on hand for a quick snack, and we just love how they taste. 

What are they? Mandarin oranges!

Mandarin oranges are a favorite due to their sweet flavor and easy-to-peel skin. 

The best part is you can find a way to use the whole fruit.

The zest can make baked goods pop and juice adds zing to salad dressings. 

4. Papayas

When the weather warms up, you can catch me outside devouring a juicy papaya. 

This tropical fruit has a buttery texture and sweet flavor. Just be sure to eat it when it’s ripe! 

Unripened papaya doesn’t have the most pleasant taste. So be sure it’s soft to the touch and mostly yellow. 

Aside from that, papayas are full of antioxidants, vitamin C, and lycopene.

Here’s something many of you may not know. Persimmons are great dipped in homemade hummus

While they might look sort of like an orange tomato, they couldn’t taste more different.

It also has a surprising amount of health benefits. Beta carotene is one, which is a carotenoid important for eye health.

Not only that, but it has a high water content that will help you stay hydrated.
