25 Best Christmas Cake Pops for the Holidays

These fun and easy Christmas cake pops will add a touch of festive flair to any yuletide soirée. Just be sure to leave some out for Santa!

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate or vanilla cake mix (plus the ingredients listed on the box, such as eggs, oil, and water)

  • 1 container ready-made frosting (vanilla or cream cheese work well)

  • White candy melts

  • Red candy melts

  • Green candy melts

  • Edible decorations, such as sprinkles and colored sugar

  • Lollipop sticks

  • Edible ink pen (black)

  • Small candies for decoration (such as orange tic-tacs for snowman’s nose)

  • Fondant (white, red, and green)

Instructions

  • Make and bake the cake according to the package instructions. Let it cool completely.
  • Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl, ensuring no large pieces remain.
  • Mix about 1/4 of the frosting into the crumbled cake. Add small amounts until the crumbs are moist enough to form into balls.
  • If the mixture is warm, chill it in the bowl for 30 minutes before molding.
  • Scoop small balls for the snowman and ornaments, rolling them smooth. Mold slightly larger portions into the tree shape, with a flat bottom.
  • Place the portions onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for 20 minutes.
  • While the balls are chilling, melt the white, red, and green candy melts in separate bowls. This is best done in 20-second intervals, stirring between until smooth.
  • Remove the cake balls from the freezer. Dip the tips of lollipop sticks (one by one) into the melted candy and insert them into the cake ball. Repeat for all the pops and chill them again (in the fridge) to set the candy.
  • Dip the cake pops into the candy melts: white for snowmen, red for ornaments, and green for Christmas trees. Tap off any excess, then chill.
  • Decorate the snowman pops using the edible ink pen to draw faces. Attach a small orange candy for the nose.
  • For the Christmas tree pops, dip a small, clean paintbrush into the green melted candy and paint a swirl from the bottom to the top. Immediatly roll it in sprinkles.
  • For the ornament pops, roll white fondant thin and cut out mini snowflakes. Attach them to the sides with white melted candy.
  • Alternatively, roll out fondant and cut out shapes for additional decorations, such as a top hat for the snowman and a star for the tree.
  • Allow all cake pops to dry completely before serving.

Notes

  • Cut a block of styrofoam to fit snuggly in a shoebox or tupperware. Use this to stick the lollipop sticks into while the pops chill.
