How to Make Brownie Batter Dip

This dip is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth cravings and impressing your friends at any gathering.

And it’s a cinch to make.

1. HEAT. Microwave the dry brownie mix in 15-second intervals for about 90 seconds total.

2. BEAT. Mix the cream cheese until smooth, then mix in the Cool Whip and brownie mix. Add milk, if needed, then stir in the chocolate chips.

3. SERVE. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and serve with dippers like pretzels, fresh fruit, graham crackers, cookies, or marshmallows. Enjoy!

Why You Should Heat Treat Brownie Mix

Safety first, flavor a close second!

Raw flour can harbor harmful bacteria like E. coli, which are eliminated through the heat treatment process.

This simple step ensures that the raw flour in the mix is safe to consume.

It also helps maintain the dip’s smooth, rich texture by preventing any grittiness that untreated flour might cause.

Here’s how to do it:

Treating Brownie Mix in the Microwave

  1. Pour the brownie mix into a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Heat on high for 90 seconds, stopping every 15 seconds to stir.

Treating Brownie Mix in the Oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Spread the brownie mix evenly on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake for about 10 minutes, stirring halfway through for even heat distribution.

With both methods, verify the temperature reaches at least 165°F (74°C) with a food thermometer to ensure safety.

Tips For the Best Brownie Batter Dip

No-bake dessert dips are game-changers, and this one is no exception! It’s like dipping your spoon into a cloud of chocolate bliss.

And with these tips, it’ll be perfect every time.

  • Choose the best brownie mix. For a richer chocolate flavor, go for a fudge brownie mix. But whatever type you pick, make sure it’s a good brand.
  • Don’t skip the heat treatment. It only takes 90 seconds and ensures that the dip is 100% safe for everyone to eat.
  • Refrigerate before serving. You don’t have to, but chilling the dip lets the flavors meld.
  • Optional mix-ins. Customize the dip with mix-ins like crushed cookies, chopped nuts, sprinkles, peanut butter chips, chopped Reese’s cups, etc.
  • Experiment with flavors. Add 2-3 tablespoons of cocoa to amp up the chocolate flavor. Or blend nut butter or Nutella into the cream cheese for a unique twist.

What to Serve with Brownie Batter Dessert Dip

To make the most of this rich and creamy dip, pair it with a variety of dippers to enhance the flavors and textures.

Here are my top choices:

  • Fresh Fruit: The freshness of fruit like strawberries, banana slices, and apple wedges adds a juicy contrast to the dense, chocolaty dip.
  • Pretzels: Their salty crunch not only complements the sweetness of the dip but also adds a satisfying texture.
  • Graham Crackers: These add a honey-flavored crunch that pairs beautifully with the chocolate.
  • Marshmallows: For a s’mores-like experience, fluffy marshmallows make the perfect dipper.
  • Vanilla Wafers: These light, crisp cookies are a classic choice that complements the rich chocolate flavor.
  • Pound Cake: Cubed pieces of pound cake are wonderful for soaking up extra dip, providing a soft and buttery texture.
  • Biscotti: A more robust option, biscotti offers a delightful crunch and can stand up to repeated dipping.

How to Store

Serve this at your next party, and it will be requested at every gathering from now on.

Luckily, it’s as easy to store as it is to make.

To Store: Cover the dip with plastic or transfer it to an airtight container. Keep in the fridge for up to 5 days. For best quality, consume within 2-3 days.

I don’t recommend freezing brownie batter dip as the texture and flavor will degrade during the freezing and thawing process.
