There’s nothing better than starting your day with a hearty breakfast. And when it comes to breakfast foods, hash browns are at the top of my list!

These deep-fried potatoes are incredibly tasty and filling! Plus, that crisp on the outside, tender on the inside quality is pure ecstasy.

Because they’re loaded with carbs, they make a great supplement to any breakfast item. But they’re just as fantastic for lunch or dinner. In fact, did you know you can even make a hash brown pizza crust!?

Whether you serve them on the side or top them with a variety of ingredients, hash browns will never disappoint.

Need some suggestions? Here are 19 side dishes that pair perfectly with hash browns.

Pair them with one side or a combination of these dishes for the ultimate breakfast!

Scrambled Eggs

1. Eggs

It doesn’t matter how you cook them – whether they’re scrambled, fried, poached, or boiled, eggs always make a great partnership with hash browns.

Together, hash browns and eggs make the quintessential American breakfast.

Bacon

2. Bacon

Starchy hash browns long for the companionship of meat. And what better breakfast meat is there than bacon?

The combination of crisp and salty potatoes and smoky and savory bacon is all you need to start your day with a bang.

Ham

3. Ham

Ham is another breakfast staple that never disappoints. I like to sandwich a thick slab of ham with two pieces of hash brown for a filling meal.

It tastes great as it is, but is even better with a bit of mayo. Yum!

Breakfast Sandwich with Hash Brown

4. Breakfast Sandwich

If you are feeling particularly hungry, pair your hash browns with a hearty breakfast sandwich. Use English muffins to house the sausage and the egg, or here’s another idea: why not use hash browns instead?

Croque Madame

5. Croque Madame

For a fancier breakfast, how about a Croque Madame? Spread a mixture of mayo and Dijon mustard onto a hash brown. Then top it with ham and grated cheese.

Broil it to melt the cheese and top with another hash brown. Finish it off with a poached or fried egg and voila! You’ll have a beautiful French breakfast.

Cheese Sauce

6. Cheese

If you want your hash browns to be the star of the meal, all they need is cheese! Drizzle the hash browns with cheese sauce or melted cheddar cheese.

It’s fantastic as is, but you can take it up a notch by topping it with a dollop of sour cream. Bacon bits and scallions couldn’t hurt, either.

Hash Browns with Smoked Salmon

7. Salmon

Instead of a bagel, try layering that savory lox over a warm hash brown! Finish it off with a spoonful of sour cream, dill, and red onion, and you’ll have a real delicacy on your plate.

Savory Homemade Corned Beef Hash

8. Corned Beef

Give your hash browns a rich and flavorful protein by adding corned beef. The flavors complement each other nicely and make for a filling feast!

Grilled Sausages

9. Sausage

Sausage is another one of my favorite breakfast staples. And oh, how I love pairing a smoky and savory sausage with a crisp and tender hash brown.

The combination is perfect because the starch absorbs some of the richness of the sausage.

Bisquick Impossible Quiche

10. Quiche

This rich and fluffy French tart is delicious on its own, but it’s even better with a side of hash browns. This savory dish keeps me full and satisfied, especially when I have a full, busy day ahead.

I like topping my hash browns with the egg, ham, and cheese filling. It just tastes so much better that way!

Nachos

11. Nachos

Want a Mexican-themed breakfast? How about trying hash brown nachos? Just top your hash browns with chili, cheese, pico de gallo, avocados, jalapenos – or any nacho topping you have on hand. Ole!

Burrito

12. Burrito

Speaking of Mexican breakfasts, how about a hash brown burrito?

Cut up your hash browns into bite-sized pieces and add them to your favorite breakfast burrito filling. Wrap it all up in a flour tortilla, and enjoy.

Quesadillas

13. Quesadillas

Another creative way to eat hash browns is to add them to quesadillas. Simply combine cheddar cheese and cooked hash browns and sprinkle them over a flour tortilla.

Top with avocado slices and season with salt and pepper. Cover with another piece of tortilla and cook both sides on a non-stick pan until the tortilla is nice and crisp. So good!

Hash Brown Pizza

14. Pizza

In the mood for Italian fare? Use your hash brown as a crust! Top it with marinara sauce, pepperoni, ham, and mozzarella. Then broil the pizza until the cheese melts.

Or, you can also just top regular pizza dough with your favorite pizza toppings, along with uncooked hash browns.

Season with crushed red peppers and fresh rosemary, then bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Enjoy!

Homemade Roasted Turkey

15. Turkey

Got some leftover turkey from Thanksgiving dinner? Serve it for breakfast with some hash browns on the side!

The starchiness of the potato will balance out the saltiness of the turkey, and you’ll have a full belly, too!

Meatloaf

16. Meatloaf

Meatloaf is another fantastic dinner that also makes a great breakfast the following day. To make your meatloaf breakfast even more of a treat, serve it with hash browns.

You’ll love how well these flavors go together. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, pour some gravy on top. Mmm!

Pot Roast

17. Pot Roast

Top your hash browns with last night’s pot roast, and ladle over some gravy for this dish, too. There’s quite nothing like the combination of crisp potatoes, succulent meat, and thick and creamy gravy.

Hot Coffee

18. Coffee

For me, breakfast will never be complete without a hot beverage. And when I need an extra boost of energy in the morning, I treat myself to a nice hot cup of coffee.

It’s a simple drink that’s excellent with warm and crispy hash browns.

Hot Chocolate

19. Hot Chocolate

Sipping on hot chocolate on a cold, rainy, or snowy morning is pure bliss. When you eat freshly cooked hash browns with this rich and decadent drink, breakfast is even more phenomenal.

It’s a comforting combo that’ll put a smile on your face.
