How to Make Italian Sub

This sub is so easy to assemble! 

1. Hollow out the bread. Slice the bread in half lengthwise, but not all the way through. Hollow out some of the excess bread from the inside to make room for the fillings.

2. Spread the condiments. Spread the mayonnaise on the inside of the top half of the bread. Drizzle the bottom half with the Italian vinaigrette.

3. Layer the meats. On the bottom half, layer the meats, starting with mortadella, then capicola, and salami on top. Fold and ruffle each slice of meat as you layer it.

4. Add the cheese. Top the meat with an even layer of provolone cheese slices.

5. Add the lettuce. Add the dressed shredded lettuce on top of the cheese.

6. Add the vegetables. Layer on the sliced tomatoes, onions, and pepperoncini peppers.

Ingredients

  • 1 large Italian sub roll or soft Italian bread loaf

  • 1/4 pound thinly sliced Genoa salami

  • 1/4 pound thinly sliced hot capicola

  • 1/4 pound thinly sliced mortadella

  • 1/4 pound thinly sliced provolone cheese

  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce, tossed with 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp red wine vinegar, pinch of dried oregano, salt and pepper

  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion

  • 2 Roma tomatoes, thinly sliced

  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp Italian vinaigrette dressing

Instructions
