Traditionally, chimichangas are deep-fried, giving them a wonderfully crisp and golden crust.

But if you’re not a fan of hot oil, fear not! I’ve found some terrific baked and Air Fried chimichanga recipes that are just as good as any.

Plus, this list even has a few sweet recipes you’ll definitely want to try.

I hope you’re hungry! Because you’ll want to devour these faster than Deadpool can say, “One poutine chimichanga, please!”

Easiest Ever Homemade Chicken Chimichangas and More!

1. Chicken Chimichangas

Filled with shredded chicken, beans, cheese, and salsa, this chimichanga is seasoned to perfection.

You can either pan-fry this or bake them in the oven. Either way, they get perfectly golden brown and crispy.

Serve these chimichangas with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa, and your family will sing your praises.

2. Beef Chimichangas

Beef chimichangas are a favorite in my house, and this recipe is one of my go-to’s.

Stuffed with ground beef and refried beans, the blend of chili powder, cumin, and oregano adds such fantastic flavor.

As if that’s not enough, there’s also a dreamy jalapeño and tomato sauce. It’s so good, you’ll want to lick the bowl clean!

3. Baked Turkey Chimichangas

On the hunt for something new and unique to make with those turkey leftovers? Try these sensational turkey chimichangas!

Ready in less than 30 minutes, these babies are great for taco Tuesday, and your family will love them.

Being baked, they’re a little lighter than most. Add to that the use of lean turkey, and you could almost say these are healthy.

4. Weight Watchers Mexican Chimichangas

I know what you’re thinking: did I read that right? Weight Watchers-approved chimichangas?

Yep, it’s true!

Filled with lean turkey, onion, garlic, green chilis, and cheddar cheese, these are just as indulgent and delicious but wonderfully light at the same time.

They’re seasoned with chili powder, oregano, and cumin, so they have a ton of flavor and definitely don’t taste like “diet food.”

5. Shrimp Chimichanga Cups

These chimichanga cups are a fun and flavorful appetizer for any gathering. They’re crunchy, bite-sized, and full of flavor.

Inside the cup, you’ll add refried beans, Rotel, guacamole, and a single, perfectly seasoned piece of shrimp.

And don’t get nervous about those cups. All you need are ready-made wonton wrappers and a muffin tin!

6. Baked Chimichangas with Fish

Fabulous for lunch or dinner, if you like fish tacos, you have to try these baked chimichangas with fish.

You’ll use frozen, beer-battered fish to save time and dishes.

And once all of the ingredients are nestled in the tortillas, just brush the whole thing with butter and bake until they’re golden.

7. Pork Chimichangas with Salsa Verde

Your family will absolutely love these pork and salsa verde chimichangas. Mine sure do!

Salsa verde is one of my favorite Mexican sauces, and this recipe takes it to the next level.

Smokey pulled pork, and tangy, spicy salsa are a match made in heaven.

These babies are fried until crispy and are probably the best way to use up leftover pulled pork.

8. Vegan Baked Chimichanga

If you’re looking for a plant-based way to enjoy this Tex-Mex classic, this is it.

These baked chimichangas are stuffed with all kinds of beans, including black, pinto, and refried.

Combined with meaty mushrooms, this filling is as satisfying as it is tasty.

Add some avocado, salsa, and vegan sour cream, and they’re truly delicious.

9. Beef and Cheese Chimichanga

Beef and cheese chimichangas are loaded with a simple yet flavorful filling.

You only need refried beans, seasoned ground beef, and cheese.

Layer that in a big old tortilla, roll it up like a burrito and then fry, bake, or place in the Air Fryer.

Whatever method you choose, the result will be fantastic.

10. Cheese Steak Chimichangas

Although these flavors aren’t traditional, these cheese steak chimichangas are spectacular.

Sauté sliced steak and cheese until everything is an ooey-gooey, delicious mess. Then wrap it up inside a tortilla and bake.

Whether they’re served to a crowd or just the family, these will be a hit.

11. Air Fryer Apple Pie Chimichangas

Dessert chimichangas are an out-of-this-world indulgence that you just have to try!

These babies are easy to make, and since they’re fried in the Air Fryer, there’s less mess!

Apple pie chimichangas taste just like apple pie but without the hassle of a pie crust or two.

Just roll the filling in a tortilla and stick them in the Air Fryer. Then, serve with a scoop of ice cream and a generous drizzle of caramel.

12. Banana Cheesecake Chimichangas

The contrasting textures of these banana cheesecake chimichangas are incredible.

Sweet, creamy cheesecake filling with dreamy and decadent caramel sauce is soft and luxurious.

Add some firm banana slices to the mix and fry until golden, and it’s such a fun mix of crunchy and tender.

13. Almond Butter Banana Chimichanga

These almond butter and banana chimichangas are a great healthy snack for when you’re craving something sweet.

Between the nutty butter, sweet banana, and crispy crust, it’s like a dream come true.

Of course, you could also use Nutella, jam, or even marshmallow fluff.

Either way, these will be a hit with the kids and the grown-ups!
