How to Make Baileys Whipped Cream

Follow these easy steps to whip up this treat.

1. Chill the equipment. Place the mixing bowl and beaters or whisk attachment in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.

2. Combine the ingredients. Add cold heavy cream, Baileys Irish Cream, and confectioners’ sugar to the chilled bowl.

3. Beat the mixture. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat on medium speed, gradually increasing to high speed as it thickens.

4. Achieve soft peaks. Continue beating until soft peaks form, about 3-4 minutes. Do not overbeat.

5. Adjust the flavors. Taste and add more Baileys or sugar if desired.

6. Serve or store. Use immediately or store covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, re-whisking if needed.

Tips for the Best Baileys Whipped Cream

This whipped cream is so easy, but these tips make it perfect.

  • Boost your booze. Start with 2 tablespoons of Baileys and add more to taste. Too much alcohol can prevent the cream from whipping properly.
  • Whip carefully! Begin whipping on medium speed, then gradually increase to high as the mixture thickens. This helps create a stable, fluffy texture.
  • Pay attention! Keep an eye on the whipped cream as you mix. Stop when you reach soft peaks to avoid overbeating, which can lead to a grainy texture.
  • Taste and tweak. Give your whipped cream a taste and adjust the flavors as needed.
  • Be creative. Experiment with different flavors by adding cocoa powder, cinnamon, or vanilla extract.
  • Make it pretty. Pipe your Baileys Whipped Cream using a star tip for an elegant presentation. Or simply dollop it on top of your favorite treats for a rustic, homemade look.
  • Enjoy responsibly. Remember, this whipped cream contains alcohol, so indulge responsibly. Keep it away from children and anyone avoiding alcohol.

How to Store

These tips will keep your whipped cream nice and fresh.

To Store: Keep it in a well-sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. If it separates a bit, just re-whisk before using.

To Freeze: Pipe or dollop small mounds onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze until solid, about 2 hours. Transfer the frozen whipped cream dollops to a freezer bag and store them for up to 2 months.

Top your favorite drinks and desserts with this Baileys whipped cream! With just 3 ingredients and a few minutes, you’ll have a delicious, boozy treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold

  • 2 tablespoons Baileys Irish Cream liqueur

  • 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar

Instructions

  • Chill a medium mixing bowl and the beaters from a hand mixer or whisk attachment from a stand mixer in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. Keeping everything cold helps the cream whip up better.
  • Add the cold heavy cream, Baileys, and confectioners’ sugar to the chilled bowl.
  • Using a hand mixer or stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, beat the mixture on medium speed. As it thickens, slowly increase the speed to high.
  • Continue beating until the cream reaches soft peaks, about 3-4 minutes total. Be careful not to overbeat, or the whipped cream can become grainy. The alcohol in the Baileys can make it a little harder to reach stiff peaks.
  • Taste the whipped cream and add a bit more Baileys or sugar if desired.
  • Use immediately or store covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. If it separates a little in the fridge, just whisk it by hand to reincorporate before using.

Notes

  • For an extra chocolatey version, sift in 1-2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder along with the sugar.
  • The Baileys can be adjusted to taste, but adding more than 2-3 tablespoons can make it harder for the cream to whip up properly.
  • Homemade Baileys whipped cream is delicious served over hot chocolate, coffee, pies, ice cream sundaes, brownies, and more!
