Cold Stone Flavors Ranked Best to Worst
Now, without further ado, here are Cold Stone’s top 20 flavors from best to worst!
1. Cheesecake Fantasy
Are you a sucker for sweet and tangy desserts? Or are you just someone who really loves cheesecakes?
Either way, you cannot go wrong with Cold Stone’s Cheesecake Fantasy.
It starts with a cheesecake ice cream base. (And yes, it tastes just like it sounds like it would- like a frozen cheesecake.)
To that, Cold Stone adds chunks of graham cracker pie crust. And plenty of strawberries and blueberries.
It tastes like a fruity mixed berry cheesecake topped with creamy ice cream.
This treat is not overly sweet- tart enough to give it some oomph. And it is also berrylicious in all the very best ways.
No wonder it’s Cold Stone’s most beloved ice cream flavor.
2. Germanchökolätekäke
Don’t let that insanely long name fool you. This ice cream is only the Cold Stone take on a German chocolate cake.
It is super chocolatey with a chocolate ice cream base and chunks of real brownies in every bite.
There’s also caramel, coconut, and nutty, salty pecans.
Together, these ingredients make a fantastic flavor. It’s rich and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
Load it up in a crunchy waffle cone for extra decadence.
3. Birthday Cake Remix
While not as popular with adults, the Birthday Cake Remix flavor is a big favorite among kids. It could be all the colorful sprinkles or the sugary taste.
Whatever the case, kiddos love this ice cream treat.
This flavor starts with Cold Stone’s signature cake batter ice cream.
It’s cool, sweet, and creamy. And it tastes about like any other cake batter-flavored product you’ve tried.
They jazz it up with festive rainbow sprinkles, chunks of brownie, and a creamy fudge sauce.
It ends up tasting a bit like a hot fudge sundae with sprinkles.
4. Coffee Lovers Only
The Coffee Lovers Only is a robust, coffee-flavored ice cream that delivers on its name.
The coffee ice cream base is like a shot of pure Colombian roast to your taste buds. It’s a flawless combination of bittersweet perfection that all coffee lovers enjoy.
Next, Cold Stone adds roasted almonds and crunchy bits of Heath bars for texture.
They top it off with sweet caramel. This cuts through some of the coffee ice cream bitterness.
If mochas, cappuccinos, and caramel macchiatos are your jam, this is the ice cream of your dreams.
5. Peanut Butter Cup Perfection
Cold Stone has several Reese’s ice cream flavors from which to choose. However, the most popular is (hands-down) their Peanut Butter Cup Perfection.
It skews heavily towards chocolate in the chocolate-peanut butter balance. (And yes, that is a good thing.)
The fudgy chocolate ice cream base has a lot to do with that. Then, they load it with peanut butter, chunks of Reese’s Cups, and fudge drizzle.
It is totally decadent. Of course, that makes it so good.
Ask them for extra Reese’s chunks if you want to go all out. The extra bit of crunch makes this flavor even better.
6. Chocolate Devotion
Chocolate Devotion is every chocoholic dream come true. Like the Peanut Butter Cup Perfection, it starts with that fudgy chocolate ice cream base.
Then, there are chocolate chips, chocolate brownie chunks, and extra fudge on top.
It’s about as chocolatey as you can get. (Without coating yourself in chocolate and diving into a pool of fudge.)
This ice cream embodies the motto, “More (chocolate) is more.” And if that sounds good, this ice cream is for you!
7. Cookie Doughn’t You Want Some
Of all the ice cream flavors on this list, this one has my favorite name. It’s just so punny and clever.
And while it is not my favorite flavor, it’s in the Cold Stone Top 10.
The silky smooth French vanilla ice cream base is phenomenal- no doubt.
Then, Cold Stone adds chocolate chips and cookie dough batter. They top it off with a double whammy of fudge and caramel sauces.
The sauces add extra sweetness, but the ice cream is pretty mild without them. It’s a good choice if you don’t want something too sugary.
Ask them to leave off the sauces for even less sweetness.
8. Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip
No, that is not a typo. This ice cream really is called Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip.
The doubling up is intentional to let you know how much mintiness you’re getting.
And trust me, it’s a whole lotta mint! It has a mint chip base with brownie chunks and fudge sauce.
Every bite is sweet, fresh, and creamy. But again, this cone has a lot more mint than chocolate.
9. Founder’s Favorite
As the name implies, this flavor is a favorite of Cold Stone’s founders, Donald and Susan Sutherland.
It’s a simple mixture of sweet cream ice cream, pecans, brownie chunks, fudge, and caramel.
Sweet cream ice cream is bland compared to Cold Stone’s other flavors. And all the add-ins don’t make up for that.
My spouse calls this flavor the “butter pecan” of the Cold Stone menu. It’s nothing special and kinda plain. But many people love it, regardless.
10. Surrender to Strawberry
Cold Stone’s Surrender to Strawberry is my second favorite flavor on the menu. It’s bright and sweetly tart- fresh and fruity.
Surrender to Strawberry has loads of flavor- almost like a strawberry shortcake, served with sherbet.
This is the perfect choice for those who love sweet flavors with a hint of tanginess.
The luscious strawberry ice cream base pairs well with the yellow cake chunks. Then, there are fresh strawberries and a creamy whipped topping.
It’s a delightful mix of flavors that any berry lover will appreciate. Serve it in a chocolate-dipped cone for the best taste.
11. Cake Batter Batter Batter
Cake Batter Batter Batter is a thick, super-sweet ice cream with loads of chocolate. It starts with a cake batter ice cream base.
To that, Cold Stone adds cookie dough batter and chunks of brownie.
It’s more like a baked confection topped with ice cream than ice cream topped with batter. But hey, that’s why people dig it.
12. Apple Pie A La Cold Stone
This flavor, too, is mild but tastes fabulous in the cooler fall months. The base is sweet, simple French vanilla ice cream.
Then, there’s graham cracker pie crust, apple pie filling, cinnamon, and caramel sauce. It’s like a warm apple pie in cold ice cream form.
It hangs out in the bottom half of the list most of the year. But when October rolls around, it often sees a sudden spike in interest.
13. Banana Caramel Crunch
And now, this is my favorite flavor from the whole bunch.
Like most flavors with a French vanilla base, it’s relatively mild and not too sweet.
Still, the addition of roasted almonds, bananas, and caramel makes it my all-time fave.
It’s not one of Cold Stone’s best sellers, but I keep it near the top of the list in my city.
The taste is incredible. But the mix of crunchy and creamy textures really does it for me. People should put bananas, caramel, and almonds together in more stuff.
14. Berry Berry Berry Good
Though not the most popular flavor on the list, Berry Berry Berry Good is – well- very, very, very good. It’s sweet, simple, and does not make a fuss.
The sweetness of the sweet cream ice cream base pairs nicely with the tart berries. (Raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries!)
It’s also a lovely choice (color scheme-wise) for Independence Day.
15. Cookie Mintster
Here is another option for the mint chocolate chip lovers out there. Unlike the Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip above, it has a more chocolatey flavor.
There’s still plenty of minty freshness. However, the double dose of Oreos and fudge makes it much more chocolatey overall.
16. Our Strawberry Blonde
This yummy flavor tastes like a blondie with strawberries and whipped cream. It starts with Cold Stone’s indulgent strawberry ice cream.
To that, they add graham cracker pie crust and fresh strawberries. (Along with caramel sauce and whipped cream.) If blondies- not brownies- are your thing, you will appreciate it.
17. Mud Pie Mojo
I will never understand why this flavor is so far down on the list. (Especially when Coffee Lovers Only is so high on the list!)
It, too, shares the same rich coffee ice cream base. However, the other ingredients are pretty different.
There are Oreos, peanut butter, roasted almonds, and fudge.
For whatever reason, this is not a winning combo with many people. I like it just fine, though.
18. The Way the Cookie Crumbles
This indulgent flavor is like ice cream, cake, and cookies all rolled into one.
It’s a delicious mix of cookie dough ice cream with chunks of Oreos and creamy frosting.
It’s indulgent but not overwhelmingly so. However, it is pure sweetness from beginning to end. (You won’t find any tangy or fruity flavors in this one!)
19. Reese’s Peanut Butter Awesome Sauce
This Reese’s flavor focuses less on the chocolate and more on the peanut butter. In fact, it doesn’t even have a chocolate ice cream base!
Instead, it starts with the simple, sugary sweet cream ice cream.
Then, Cold Stone adds chunks of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and peanut butter sauce. If you enjoy peanut butter, you’ll love this one.
20. One Smart Brookie
Finally, here’s one last treat for the cookie lovers among us. It begins with Cold Stone’s creamy cookie dough base.
Then, they top it off with chunky cookie dough batter and fudgy brownies. It’s the perfect mixture of sweetness, richness, and chocolatey-ness.
Ask for an extra caramel drizzle to take the sweetness up another notch.
Fun article! But these are creations. The ice cream flavor is the “flavor.”
