  • White Chocolate Chips: Buttery, milky chips for the top layer. They’re a sweet compliment to the butterscotch.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: Adds creaminess and binds the ingredients together.
  • Powdered Sugar: It dissolves easily, adding sweetness and a smooth texture to the bottom layer.
  • Butter: Adds richness and a smooth, velvety texture. Also helps to create a firm structure as the dessert sets.

Tips For the Best Harry Potter Butterbeer Fudge

This fudge is the perfect indulgence for your next Harry Potter movie marathon.

But if you’ve never made fudge before, fear not. I have a few tips to ensure success below!

  • Quality ingredients. For the best taste and texture, choose high-quality butterscotch and white chocolate chips. Yes, it really does make a difference!
  • Stir constantly for the best texture. Get a long wooden spoon and but in some elbow grease. If you don’t, it can catch and burn or become grainy.
  • Use the freezer. You need the bottom layer pretty firm to keep the line defined. And for that, the freezer if your best bet!
  • How to cut clean slices. Use a warm, sharp knife and wipe it clean between cuts.
  • Topping hack. I totally forgot to add the mini marshmallows when the fudge was wet. So, I threw on a thin layer of butterscotch sauce and then added them. Win-win!
  • Variations. Try dark chocolate or peanut butter chips for a unique twist. You could also add nuts or dried fruit between layers for texture.
  • Make them magical. Mix some luster dust into the fudge. Then, just before it sets, scatter some edible stars on top for a really witchy finish.

Transport yourself to the wizarding world with this enchanting Harry Potter butterbeer fudge, packed with butterscotch and white chocolate magic!

Ingredients

  • Butterscotch Fudge
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar

  • 2/3 cup butter

  • 4 ounces marshmallow creme

  • 3 cups butterscotch chips

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • White Chocolate Fudge
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips

  • 12 ounces sweetened condensed milk

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup mini marshmallow bits, optional

Instructions

  • Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil, leaving an overhang for easy removal. Spray generously with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  • Make the Butterscotch Layer: In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the condensed milk, powdered sugar, butter, and marshmallow creme. Stir constantly until smooth.
  • Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the butterscotch chips and vanilla extract. Stir until the chips are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Pour the butterscotch mixture into the prepared pan, smoothing it into an even layer. Place the pan in the freezer for 5-10 minutes to set.
  • Make the White Chocolate Layer: In a clean saucepan, combine the white chocolate chips, condensed milk, and butter over medium heat. Cook and stir until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the vanilla and salt. Then, carefully pour it over the butterscotch fudge, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  • If using, top with the marshmallow bits, pressing them gently into the top so they stick (see note).
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) before cutting into bite-sized squares. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Instead of pressing the marshmallows into the top, try spreading a thin layer of butterscotch sauce over the set fudge, then add the marshmallows. It’ll give the fridge a really nice, sticky finish.
  • For the best taste and texture, choose high-quality butterscotch and white chocolate chips. Yes, it really does make a difference!
