Ingredients

  • Lemon Oreo Cookies: These sandwich cookies provide the sweet, lemony base and structure for the truffles. They should be crushed into fine crumbs for the best texture.
  • Cream Cheese: Use full-fat block-style cream cheese at room temperature for easy mixing. It binds the crushed cookies together and creates a smooth, creamy texture.
  • White Chocolate: High-quality white chocolate with a high cocoa butter content works best for coating. It creates a firm, glossy shell when set and complements the lemon flavor.
  • Lemon Zest: Fresh lemon zest adds bright, natural citrus flavor and serves as an attractive garnish.

How to Make Lemon Oreo Truffles

With only four ingredients, these truffles come together quickly and easily.

1. CRUSH the Oreos in a food processor or a Ziploc bag with a rolling pin until finely crumbed.

2. MIX the crushed Oreos with softened cream cheese in a bowl until a dough forms.

3. ROLL the mixture into 1-tablespoon balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill for 20-30 minutes until firm.

4. MELT the white chocolate in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.

5. DIP the truffles into the melted chocolate, coating them completely.

6. SPRINKLE lemon zest on top before the chocolate sets.

7. SET the truffles at room temperature or chill for 10-15 minutes until firm. Enjoy!

Tips for the Best Lemon Oreo Truffles

Here are some of my best tips for top-tier truffles!

  • Splurge on the chocolate. For the best coating, try brands like Ghirardelli, Valrhona, or See’s Candies for smooth melting and rich flavor.
  • Get the cream cheese nice and soft. Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened to easily mix with the crushed Oreos and create a smooth dough-like consistency.
  • Try a dipping trick. Refrigerate the truffle balls for 20-30 minutes to firm them up. This makes it easier to dip them in melted white chocolate without falling apart.
  • Lift the lemon flavor. For a stronger lemon taste, mix in additional lemon zest or juice into the Oreo and cream cheese mixture before forming the truffles.
  • Try fun topping ideas. Try crushed Oreo crumbs, colored sprinkles, or drizzle extra melted white chocolate over the truffles for a decorative finish.
  • Go Golden. If you can’t find Lemon Oreos, use Golden Oreos and add lemon zest plus juice or lemon extract to achieve the same citrus flavor.
  • Switch up the flavor. Experiment with different flavors by adding extracts like vanilla or almond. You can also use flavored cream cheeses such as strawberry for a unique twist.

How to Store

Here’s how to keep your truffles nice and fresh.

To Store: Place the truffles in an air-tight container with parchment paper between layers and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. Let them sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving to achieve the best texture.

To Freeze: Place the truffles in a freezer-safe container with parchment paper between layers and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.

These 4-ingredient lemon Oreo truffles are to die for! They’re light, refreshing, and the perfect sweet treat to end any meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Lemon Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)

  • 1 (8 ounce) block cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup white chocolate or white chocolate chips

  • zest of 1 lemon, optional

Instructions

  • Place the Lemon Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they’re finely crushed. If you don’t have a food processor, place the Oreos in a ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin until they’re crumbs.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed Oreos with the softened cream cheese. Mix until smooth and fully combined, forming a dough-like consistency. You can use a spoon or an electric mixer.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop out small portions of the mixture (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Refrigerate the truffle balls for 20-30 minutes to firm them up. This will make dipping them in chocolate easier.
  • While the truffles are chilling, melt the white chocolate. You can do this in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring each time until smooth and melted.
  • Using a fork or toothpicks, dip each chilled truffle ball into the melted white chocolate, coating it completely. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing it back onto the parchment paper.
  • Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle a little lemon zest on top of each truffle for a pop of flavor and color.
  • Let the chocolate coating harden completely at room temperature or by refrigerating the truffles for another 10-15 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
