Ingredients

  • Refrigerated Crescent Rolls: Pillsbury is my go-to, but you can use any brand you prefer.
  • Deli Ham: Get thinly sliced ham for the best taste and texture.
  • Cheddar Cheese: Sharp, melty cheese that creates a gooey center.
  • Unsalted Butter: Creates a rich glaze, helping to achieve a golden-brown color during baking.
  • Honey: Adds natural sweetness to the glaze.
  • Dijon Mustard: Adds a tangy flavor to the glaze and balances the honey.
  • Garlic Powder: Enhances the flavor of the glaze.

How to Make Ham and Cheese Crescent Rolls

Fresh from my kitchen to yours, these savory rolls are proof that a little creativity with everyday ingredients can create something insanely delicious.

Here’s how to make them:

1. PREHEAT the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. UNROLL the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles on a flat surface.

3. LAYER each triangle with half a slice of cheese near the wide end, followed by a slice of ham, and top with another half slice of cheese.

4. ROLL each triangle tightly from the wide end, tucking the pointy end underneath, and place them on the baking sheet 1-2 inches apart.

5. MIX the melted butter, honey, Dijon mustard, and garlic powder in a small bowl until smooth. Brush over the crescent rolls.

6. BAKE for 12-15 minutes until puffed and golden brown. Watch closely to avoid over-browning.

7. COOL on the pan for 5 minutes, then serve warm. Enjoy!

Tips For the Best Ham and Cheese Crescent Rolls

I’ve been on a comfort food kick lately, and these ham and cheese crescent rolls are just too good not to share.

Check out these tips, and yours will be just as addictive.

  • Quality matters. Get high-quality honey ham and cheddar from the deli section rather than pre-packaged for a better flavor.
  • Avoid overflowing. Trim or fold the ham and cheese to prevent it from spilling out too much during baking.
  • Use cheese sticks. For an extra gooey filling, wrap cheese sticks in the ham to keep it inside.
  • Season the glaze. Try Italian seasoning, poppy seeds, chili flakes, or hot honey. You could also sprinkle some Everything Bagel seasoning for added texture and flavor.
  • Glaze twice. Glaze with egg wash to get a nice golden crust. Then, brush the butter over about halfway through.
  • Make-ahead. Prep in advance and refrigerate until ready to bake. Add a few extra minutes to the baking time if needed.
  • Mix things up. Swap ham for turkey or roast beef, or try puff pastry instead of crescent rolls. Use Swiss, Gruyère, or pepper jack cheese, or include extras like thinly sliced pickles, mustard, or even sautéed onions.

How to Store

I don’t recommend freezing these cheesy treats. They just won’t have the same texture after thawing.

They’re also best enjoyed right away as they’ll quickly lose their flaky texture after cooling. Luckily, they’re so quick to make!

Still, you can store leftovers if you have them. Here’s how:

To Store: Place cooled ham and cheese crescent rolls in an airtight container and refrigerate for 2-3 days.

To Reheat: Bake leftovers at 350°F for 5-7 minutes until heated through. You could also try the toaster oven to make the edges flaky.

These quick & easy ham and cheese crescent rolls are perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, after-school snack, or party appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 count) can refrigerated crescent rolls

  • 8 slices cheddar cheese

  • 8 slices thin deli ham

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Open the can of crescent rolls and carefully unroll the dough on a flat surface. Separate the dough along the perforated lines into 8 individual triangles.
  • Cut the cheese slices in half and place one half on each dough triangle near the wide end. Add a slice of ham, folding the edges if necessary to keep it within the boundaries of the dough. Top with another half slice of cheese.
  • Tightly roll the crescent dough, starting from the wide end. Tuck the skinny end underneath and place them on the baking sheet 1-2 inches apart.
  • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, honey, Dijon mustard, and garlic powder until smooth and fully incorporated. Brush over the crescent rolls.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are puffed up and golden brown. Watch them in the last few minutes to avoid over-browning.
  • Remove from the oven and cool on the pan for about 5 minutes. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use cheese sticks. For an extra gooey filling, wrap cheese sticks in the ham to keep it inside.
  • Season the glaze. Try Italian seasoning, poppy seeds, chili flakes, or hot honey. You could also sprinkle some Everything Bagel seasoning for added texture and flavor.
