How to Make Cheese Bombs

Soft and fluffy with plenty of garlic butter, these quick and easy cheese bombs are guaranteed to please at your next party or potluck.

And you can have a batch ready in just 20 minutes!

1. PREP: Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. MELT: Warm the butter, garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, and salt over low heat. Set aside to cool.

3. SHAPE: Cut each biscuit in half and press or roll to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut the string cheese and add to the biscuit dough. Wrap the dough around the cheese and pinch to seal.

4. BAKE: Brush the tops with garlic butter and sprinkle with Parmesan, if using. Then bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.

5. SERVE: Brush with more garlic butter and serve warm with marinara sauce.

  • How to seal: Pinch the edges of the dough tightly to seal the cheese inside. If needed, use a small amount of water to make it stick. Place the bombs seam-side down on the baking sheet to prevent leakage.
  • A good baking tip. Use a light-colored baking sheet to keep the bottoms from burning. Bake until the tops are golden brown.
  • Variations. Experiment with different cheeses like cheddar, pepper jack, or Swiss. Or add tasty extras like jalapeño slices, bacon bits, or pepperoni slices.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

  • pinch salt

  • 1 (8 count) can buttermilk refrigerated biscuit dough

  • 4 sticks mozzarella string cheese

  • 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese, optional

  • marinara sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°Fahrenheit (205°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the butter, garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, and salt. Warm over medium heat, stirring frequently, just until the butter melts. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
  • Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the rounds. Cut each biscuit in half and gently press or roll the dough to approximately 1/4-inch thickness, aiming for a rounded shape.
  • Cut each string cheese stick into 8 pieces each. Then, place 2 pieces onto each biscuit round and fold the edges of the dough over the cheese. Pinch to seal the seams and place on the baking sheet, seam side down, with 2 inches between each.
  • Brush the tops of the dough balls with the garlic butter. If using, sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese, then bake for 8-10 minutes until the tops are golden brown. Remove from the oven and brush with additional garlic butter before serving.
  • Serve warm with the remaining garlic butter and marinara sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy!
