How to Make Banana Pudding Dip

Making this dip couldn’t possibly be easier!

1. Mix the pudding. In a medium bowl, whisk together the pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until smooth and starting to thicken. Set aside.

2. Beat the cream cheese. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until fluffy. Mix in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until smooth.

3. Combine the mixtures. Add the pudding mixture to the cream cheese mixture and beat until well combined and creamy.

4. Fold in the toppings. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until incorporated. Fold in the diced bananas.

5. Transfer to a bowl. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. If desired, garnish with additional whipped topping, banana slices, and crushed vanilla wafers.

6. Chill. Chill the dip in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or up to 1 day, to allow flavors to meld.

7. Serve with dippers. Serve with vanilla wafers, graham crackers, or fruit for dipping.

Tips for the Best Banana Pudding Dip

Following these easy tips results in a perfect dip.

  • Don’t let bananas brown. Add lemon juice to diced bananas. This prevents them from browning too quickly.
  • Add more flavor. Experiment with different pudding flavors like vanilla or chocolate, or mix in crushed cookies or toasted coconut.
  • Get a little fancy. For a fancier presentation, layer the dip with banana slices, wafers, and whipped cream in a trifle dish.
  • Give it an elegant finish. Get creative with toppings like caramel drizzle, crushed Oreos, cinnamon, nuts, or toasted coconut.
  • Get dipping! Serve with a variety of dippers like vanilla wafers, graham crackers, shortbread cookies, pretzels, and fresh fruit.

How to Store

Unfortunately, this dip won’t freeze well. But it stores well in the fridge!

To Store: Cover the banana pudding dip tightly with plastic wrap or transfer to an air-tight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.

The dip is best consumed within a few days as the bananas may start to brown.

Ingredients

  • 1 (3.4 ounce) packet instant banana pudding mix

  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened

  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed (like Cool Whip)

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1-2 ripe bananas, diced

  • Vanilla wafers, graham crackers, or fruit for dipping

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until smooth and starting to thicken. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until fluffy. Mix in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Add the pudding mixture to the cream cheese mixture and beat until well combined and creamy.
  • Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until incorporated. Fold in the diced bananas.
  • Transfer dip to a serving bowl. If desired, garnish with additional whipped topping, banana slices, and crushed vanilla wafers.
  • Chill the dip in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or up to 1 day, to allow flavors to meld.
  • Serve with vanilla wafers, graham crackers, or fruit for dipping. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is very cold to help the pudding set up quickly.
  • Ripe bananas provide the best flavor. Dice them just before folding in so they don’t brown.
  • For a lighter dip, you can use Neufchâtel cheese in place of full-fat cream cheese.
  • Graham crackers make a great substitute if you can’t find vanilla wafers.
