It’s a wonderful way to cool off on a hot day, and it’s pretty versatile. You can enjoy it poolside, at the beach, or for brunch.

In truth, there’s no wrong time to savor a delicious strawberry daiquiri. The best part is it’s so easy to make!

Strawberry Daiquiri

The icy-cold strawberry daiquiri is a classic. Don’t waste your money on a pre-mixed daiquiri mix.

Use fresh ingredients and make it from scratch instead. You won’t need that much, just limes, strawberries, rum, and simple syrup.

You can have it ready in about 5 minutes or less.

It has a fresh, pure, natural strawberry flavor. It’s also delightfully sweet without being overly so. Without the store-bought mix, the strawberry flavor shines through.

There’s nothing artificial about it. In my opinion, it’s the only reasonable way to make a daiquiri.

Ingredients

You need the following ingredients for this daiquiri recipe:

  • Strawberries – Use a combination of fresh and frozen strawberries for this recipe. The fresh ones provide the boldest, brightest flavor. The frozen ones ensure the drink stays icy cold for longer.
  • Simple syrup – You can make simple syrup by warming equal parts water and sugar over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until all the sugar dissolves.
  • Lime – You need a lime wedge to help rim your glass for salting. You also need freshly squeezed lime juice for the drink itself. Don’t substitute the bottled kind unless you have no other option.
  • White rum – I’m a sucker for Bacardi or Captain Morgan, but you can use whatever brand you like best.
  • Salt – For salting the rim. I like to use colorful salt, like pink Himalayan, but any coarse, chunky salt will work. For a sweeter drink, you can use sugar instead.

How to Make a Strawberry Daiquiri

Follow these steps for the perfect strawberry daiquiri:

1. Prepare the glasses. Run a lime wedge around the rim, then dip the rim in salt or sugar. If you have time, chill the glasses for at least 30 minutes beforehand.

2. Mix. Combine the fresh and frozen strawberries, simple syrup, lime juice, and rum in a blender. Blend it on high until the drink is smooth.

3. Pour. Pour the drink into the prepared glasses, and enjoy!

  • Jazz up the simple syrup. Infuse it with fresh herbs like basil, mint, or rosemary. Herbs and berries taste perfect together.
  • Freeze the rum. We often keep our spirits at room temperature. However, putting your rum in the freezer to chill it will make this drink even more delicious.
  • Make it a mocktail. The strawberry, citrus, and sweetness make a fabulous non-alcoholic blend. Simply leave out the rum.
  • Dial up the tanginess. Add an ounce to an ounce and a half of Cointreau. You can also play around with different types of rum to see which you like best.
  • Adjust the consistency. For too-thin drinks, add more frozen strawberries or ice. If it’s too thick, add a little extra liquid.
  • Spice it up. Spicy daiquiris are phenomenal. Add a small, diced, and de-seeded jalapeno to the blender with the other ingredients.
  • Make a big batch. You can increase the ingredients by however much you need for all your guests. Then, serve it in a punchbowl instead of glasses.
  • Turn it into dessert. Make the daiquiri recipe using only fresh strawberries. When it’s ready, top it with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream for a daiquiri float. YUM!

What Other Fruits Can I Use?

Strawberry daiquiris are one of the most popular daiquiri types. However, you can make daiquiris with a myriad of different fruits, including:

  • Mangoes
  • Peaches
  • Raspberries
  • Pineapples
  • Bananas
  • Kiwis
  • Passionfruit
  • Oranges

You can even mix fruits for a more complex flavor. Try making a pomegranate raspberry daiquiri next time. You can thank me later.

Serving Tips

Follow these tips for serving your daiquiris. After all, a lovely presentation is half the fun of mixed drinks.

  • Choose fun glasses. Most people serve daiquiris in martini or hurricane glasses. However, any fun, stemmed glassware will suffice.
  • Chill your glassware. Pop the glasses in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before pouring in the daiquiri. An icy cold glass keeps the drink chilled longer.
  • Prepare the rim. The recipe card walks you through how to sugar or salt the rim. Use pink Himalayan salt or colorful Margarita salt for a more festive appearance.
  • Remember to garnish. Garnishes can add a lot of color and flair to your mixed drink. Try colorful, twisty straws, little umbrellas, or sword cocktail picks with berries. You can also garnish them with citrus fruits (lemons, limes, etc.) or berries.
