Browsing through these 20 eggnog cocktails is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.
And that includes those looking on Christmas Eve and everyone who stumbled upon the list in the middle of July,
Eggnog is a seasonal drink that people either love or hate.
However, if you willingly clicked on a link to look at eggnog cocktails, I’m betting that you’re a fan of this thick, spicy drink.
If you found your way here by accident, don’t run off just yet! Even if you don’t like pure eggnog, eggnog cocktails may be an entirely different story.
Now, let’s jump right into it.
1. Holiday Spiked Eggnog
Okay, so if you’re not a huge eggnog fan, this one might not be for you.
However, if you do love eggnog, then this might be your favorite.
It’s eggnog, pure and simple, but it’s eggnog that can get you tipsy, which makes it better eggnog.
The nutmeg and cinnamon on top add a delightful bit of holiday spice and flair.
2. Mrs. Claus Cocktail
If you want to celebrate the holiday season like the famous Mrs. Claus, all you’ll need to do is add some peppermint schnapps and chocolate liqueur to your eggnog.
That pretty much covers all the Christmas basics, and the resulting cocktail is Mrs. Claus-approved.
3. Eggnog Brandy Alexander
The eggnog Brandy Alexander is one of the simplest drinks on this list, combining only eggnog, spiced rum, and brandy.
The spiced rum, though, gives the eggnog a rich, complex flavor that’ll almost give you fall vibes along with the winter ones you’ll get from the nog.
4. Bourbon Eggnog
Sorry, I was wrong. It doesn’t get any simpler than mixing bourbon and eggnog in a pitcher and stirring. It takes 2 minutes to whip up, and it’s surprisingly strong.
If you’re not a massive fan of a bold liquor taste, this one may not be your cup of nog. Still, if you’re looking for a quick buzz, it might be perfect.
5. Eggnog Vodka Cocktail
This is another cocktail that gives you plenty of the traditional nog flavor, thanks largely to the nutmeg and cinnamon on top.
The amaretto gives it a sweet richness, and the vodka brings the kick. Lovers of eggnog will go back for seconds and thirds of this one.
6. Cinnamon Gingerbread Eggnog Cocktail
Looking for an eggnog cocktail with a south-of-the-border flair? If so, this eggnog/horchata drink is the one for you.
With two ounces of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey, allspice, and ginger, you’ll get a lot of heat and spice and everything nice.
Plus, the horchata helps sweeten the eggnog, making it even more delicious.
7. White Christmas Cocktail
If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, all you’ll need to make that dream come true is eggnog, white chocolate liqueur, and an ounce of Southern Comfort.
The edible gold flakes aren’t required, but they will undoubtedly give your drink a touch of elegance and class.
And the chocolate shavings on top make it extra scrumptious.
8. The Yule Log Cocktail
This lovely, peach-colored drink is deceptively spicy and deceptively strong.
All that’s in it are two ounces of nog and a half ounce (or more) of Fireball Whiskey.
It’ll light up your mouth and warm up your belly. If you drink more than two, however, you’ll also drunkenly croon Christmas carols to anyone who’ll listen.
9. Eggnog Martini
This eggnog martini is as gorgeous as it is delicious if, that is, you’re a fan of eggnog, vanilla, and amaretto.
It’s a little sweeter and more decadent than most martinis you’re probably used to drinking, but Christmas comes but once a year. You might as well indulge.
10. Eggnog Amaretto Cocktail
If you like your drinks to taste like something you’d order at Starbucks, then you’ll adore the eggnog amaretto cocktail.
It contains amaretto and eggnog, of course, but also spiced rum, hazelnut liquid creamer, and a dash of cinnamon.
It has a sweet, spicy, and nutty flavor that tastes simply fantastic.
Honestly, all it’s missing is a shot of espresso.
11. Eggnog Mudslide
Yummmmmm… I’m a sucker for a mudslide, and that doesn’t change when the ingredients include eggnog.
The eggnog adds a sweet and spicy flavor to the traditional chocolate mudslide, along with the vodka, Kahlua, whipped cream, and ground nutmeg.
*Note: Keep this drink far away from children. They will be unable to resist its chocolatey taste and appearance. Period.
12. White Russian Eggnog
I can never talk about any type of White Russian without thinking of Jeff Bridges’ “The Dude.”
And for this 5-minute, four-ingredient (eggnog, Kahlua, peppermint vodka, and ice) variation, I just can’t help but picture him in his robe with some reindeer antlers on his head and fuzzy slippers on his feet.
I think he’d appreciate the splash of holiday cheer the peppermint and nog bring to his favorite drink.
13. Eggnog Chocolate Martini
There’s just something about eggnog that pairs flawlessly with both Kahlua and vanilla vodka, and for this drink, you’ll combine all three.
It takes 5 minutes to make two of these delectable chocolate drinks, but be careful drinking them. Mostly, this cocktail is pure sweetness.
You’ll barely taste the vodka, meaning a super-strong buzz can creep up on you before you realize it’s there.
14. Kahlua and Eggnog
As you can tell by the name, this is another Kahlua and eggnog concoction.
Except, for this one, you’ll top it with an ample helping of whipped cream and a splash of ground nutmeg.
It’s sweet, chocolatey, and lightly spiced for a flavor that’s both mild and festive.
I like to stick little candy canes in these as a garnish or if I’m feeling super creative, homemade gingerbread men.
The gingerbread men get soggy pretty quickly, but if they fall into the drink, it’s okay. It just gives it more spice.
15. Chocolate Peppermint Eggnog Cocktail
Of all the drinks on this list, this one is probably the most complex and involved, and even so, it still only takes 5 minutes to whip up.
The ingredients list is a little long, though.
To make it, you’ll need eggs, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, peppermint schnapps, creme de cacao, whole milk, heavy cream, and chocolate shavings.
As you can tell, part of this drink is making homemade eggnog. As a result, it’s thicker, creamier, and richer than its store-bought counterpart.
This whole drink has a ton of flavor. In fact, it’s probably one of my favorites on the entire list.
16. Eggnog Cognac Cocktail
With both cognac and bourbon (or dark rum), this eggnog-based cocktail is more potent than others on the list.
Plus, the alcohol taste comes through loud and clear, even over the nog, nutmeg, and vanilla.
Still, if you enjoy a good, stiff drink on ice, this one will be a hit in your house.
17. Orange Spice Eggnog
This drink is one of the most unique options on this list. It simply has such a distinctive flavor!
Like the chocolate peppermint eggnog cocktail, this recipe, too, has you make homemade eggnog.
It also uses some seemingly odd ingredients, like kosher salt, orange zest, and orange liqueur (among many, many others).
The result is a spicy-sweet drink with a strong citrus flavor beneath all the rest.
To be honest, it’s a little hard to describe, but it’s definitely one everyone should try at least once.
18. Irish Coffee Nog
This is the Irish coffee we all know and love, but in the spirit of Christmas, it’s a lot sweeter. It still has the coffee and the Irish whiskey.
But there’s also eggnog, sweetened whipped cream, flavored syrup, ground nutmeg, mint candy sticks, and two quarts of vanilla ice cream!
Granted, it makes a dozen cups of coffee, but still, it just might put you in a sugar coma first.
19. Rum and Eggnog Latte
This robust and creamy drink gives you a nice alcohol buzz and a caffeine boost at the same time, thanks to the rum and the coffee.
The nog and the nutmeg, on the other hand, give you that bit of holiday sweetness that you can enjoy while sitting around the tree on Christmas morning.
20. Peppermint Eggnog Martini
All you’ll need for this minty, 5-minute drink is vodka, eggnog, mint flavoring, crushed candy canes, and honey.
Between the eggnog and the honey, you’d think this drink would be overwhelmingly sweet, but the mint flavoring and crushed candy canes bring the peppermint flavor to the foreground.
You’ll taste the other ingredients, including the vodka, but this drink is definitely one for the mint lovers out there.
