Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds cremini mushrooms (or any preferred type), sliced

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (adjust to taste)

  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

  • Splash balsamic vinegar

Instructions

  • Warm the olive oil with 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sauté mushrooms for about 5-7 minutes or until they start to brown. Then, reduce the heat to medium and add the onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme.
  • Continue cooking for an additional 6-8 minutes or until the onions are soft and the mushrooms are browned.
  • Add the remaining tablespoon of butter and a splash of balsamic vinegar. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional minute.
